Unfortunately I watched his aggressive, racist rant, I can only assume you haven't watched the video. Hating racists isn't bizarre.

And I think the idiom you're looking for is bee in your bonnet. Hope this helps.

Did Vardy make a mistake? Possibly, but he was never charged with a crime or anything and really no one cares about this. He even apologised

For the sake of debate, why is calling a Japanese person a 'Jap' but calling a Scottish person a 'Scot' isn't?

It is when used in the context and manner that Vardy uses it.

So why is using 'Chink' deemed racist, when used in the context of purchasing delicious, heart warming food from there?

I don't know.

Or just an ill-judged word used by your typical, super-thick footballer trying to get the attention of a Japanese man who's real name he didn't know, but with no real prejudice behind it?

"trying to get the attention"   He repeatedly shouts at him to get lost, repeatedly calls him a "Jap" even as he walks away and then gets restrained. All because the guy had the cheek to want to stand and watch a game of cards in a casino.

It doesn't even matter about context. "Jap" is considered an ethnic slur.

From the Japanese Embassy in London:

May I point out that most Japanese people find the word ‘Jap’ offensive, irrespective of the circumstances in which it is used.

The best Vardy story is when he got tagged for violent assault, and had to be subbed off during games so he could get back to his house incase he broke his curfew.

Clearly someone who should be a role model to us all.

He shouldn't have done it and was rightly convicted. It followed someone abusing his deaf friend for being deaf but like I said he shouldn't have done it and was rightly convicted. He realizes this now but of course he should have realized at the time.

I think life is very much a learning curve for him from where he started...

He learned from it by going out and trying to start a fight with a man because he was losing at poker. Seems legit.

A continued learning curve...

Imagine if you described the 2015/16 seasons of Harry Kane and Wayne Rooney to someone who didn't know anything about the England team, then told them there was legitimate media debate about which one should be starting games at this tournament. What a shambles of a country.

From the Japanese Embassy in London:

Everyone knows the correct term is "Nip". Obviously...

34 it is then.  :whistle

Caulker, Cleverly, Jenkinson, Kelly, Livermore, Shelvey, Townsend, Zaha.. there's some bang average players in amongst all that.

It shows how much the media and Roy know about football...

It's got to be two up front in the shape of Vardy and Kane for me.

But Roy and the media know best...
