Forfar v Peterhead 2.4.16

Recommended Posts

Well, the first of our 5 "cup finals".

Difficult to call - our general form is probably better than our results have been showing - and the last home game against 3rd placed Ayr went well, so a repeat of that would be good.  Our lack of ambition/drive last week at Stenny (until we equalised) will hopefully be the only blip in the run in.

Had fancied Peterhead's run to come to an end but didn't think it would be at home last week - hopefully the actual cup final continues to be a distraction for them and we can catch them a bit out of sorts.

Always likely to concede against the Blue Toon and I despair when McIntosh comes on the pitch.  Just need to hope our players can convert a higher proportion of the chances being created.

No word on Spark yet and the rest of the team will have a familiar look to it no doubt.

I think we need 10 points to have a shot of automatic safety.

Last few home performances have been improved so we have to win our home games.

Not massively confident but maybe we're playing Peterhead at right time? Nothing left for them in league and the cup final looming (good luck btw).

Hoping for good things from the Loons tomorrow and from the Toon in the cup final.

I doubt the Peterhead players will be unfocused due to their impending cup final as they'll all be determined to put on a good display in order to be picked for the biggy. That said they will be less likely to want the physical tussle we usually get from them. Injuries and suspensions need avoiding. Here's hoping the Loons perform as we did against Ayr and the strikers are on form as we will concede due to their good strike force and our defence always having a mistake in them at some point.

We need to compete in midfield this week.  Martin failed to impress on his return, Omar struggled and Swankie was forced deep to get any time on the ball.  Shame Bollan couldn't see that, and make the necessary changes to swing the game in our favour.

If we play like we did against Ayr, we'll win.  Like we did against Stenny we'll lose.

Bollan has been limited on what he could do by an injury list that would have had the Campbell fan club foaming at the mouth. Back four and centre midfield entirely wiped out. What exactly does Scott Martin do? Time for him to take a game.

2-0 Loons.

Another good performance and we eventually took our chances. Could have been a couple to the good in the first half.

No failures for me today.

We've got it within ourselves to get away from the bottom and we shouldn't panic too much if we're not in a great league position after next weekend's results

Peterhead looked good in spells but will need to refocus if they want to cause any kind of upset next week. (and I know they will be making changes)

Yeah, Darren's been a bit of a whipping boy since he returned but was very good today.

You can't help wondering what we might have done with either Ryan or Craig earlier this season or even from the start instead of Campbell's summer courting of Linn.

Bit of a worry we ended game (and played second half) with only two fit defenders available.

Good display, great result especially considering Brechin and Cowdenbeath won too. A clean sheet for Darren was great, speaking of goalies, the Peterhead goalie may find himself in deep trouble after throwing a near full water bottle at an elderly local at the end. A ban would be issued to a fan doing that so no reason why the same shouldn't apply to a player displaying terrible behaviour like that.

So true. A two match ban would do nicely:)
