Adam Posted April 30, 2016 Share Posted April 30, 2016 Retrospectively (as whilst I was alive at the time I was too young to understand the seriousness of it), the Troubles were a big one. Conflict happens all over the world, but I just find it bizarre to think that just 20 years ago people were killing others primarily because of religion only a few miles away from Scotland. Obviously it is still ongoing (Real IRA and all that), but not on the scale it was thankfully. Whilst I knew it would happen, I can't believe people actually voted against independence. I know it was a vanity thing but all the same, it's unusual to see the time it takes to get somewhere increase ratger than decrease. Inverness and Ross County winning national trophies. A large number of Scots choosing to be ruled by the English. Leicester City. The number of people who supported Bush's invasion of Iraq. A black American president. I assumed it would happen in my lifetime but not as soon as it did. The adoption of the Euro. On the other hand; it's 2016 and the best way for a doctor to check the health of your prostate is STILL to stick a finger up your arse and poke around. WTF?
