Alan Stubbs
Thank f**k the shambolic Holyrood isn't in complete control is a very peculiar position to take just now. Westminster is a beacon of stability and competent governance, right enough.

Nor do the more hardcore of them care about the policies of the Scottish government or domestic governance in general. All they care about is trying to get a party committed to keeping Scotland subservient to the decisions of the UK into Holyrood (its domestic policies, history and makeup is of no consequence - it just has to promise to put the disgusting proposition of Scotland being a normal, self-governing nation state back in its box). Lex
Use this thread to post your congratulatory messages to Theresa and Ruth. It's the best performance in a local election by a ruling party in over 40 years. In Scotland the Tories have buried Labour and reinforced their position as the only viable opposition to the separatists. Every Scot who believes in the union must surely now abandon Labour, UKIP and The Lib Dems and unite behind Ruth's surging blues. The poorest areas in the country such as Shettleston and Ferguslie Park, which have been failed for yeas by a succession of Lab/SNP councillors, are now turning Tory. Yesterday was a truly historic day. The momentum now goes on to the general election next month, where we look set to crush Red Corbyn and the hard left once and for all. In Scotland every seat is up for grabs and it's just a question of how many we can pick off from the Nats.. Everything's coming up Tory!

Bring Your Own Socks
Hopefully after the recent performance of Davidson those fair-play SNP voters who say they 'admire' her, kinda like the wee lassie that just started working in reception, will now realise and accept that she's another greedy, manipulating, bullying, cheating lying bastirt like the rest of the senior Tories. The Tories, across the history of Parliament have always stood for protection of the empire, protection of elitism, strength of the City of London and financial growth for those that already have it. The current lot, despite the gross deception they are portaying toward the "ordinary" people, must be some of the worse in history. Davidson's one of them. Her callous and brutal campaign continues to divide Scotland and it's people. Classic PLC tactics woven into public life. Right out the Maggie Divide & Conquer Big Book of How to Wreck a Nation. No interest at all in what councils should provide for their people. Win at all costs. The SNP need to man up, and woman up, and get the message straight and put this twisted bitch on her back once and for all.

pandarilla
She's a politician, and she's playing the game very well. The rangers supporting unionist vote has fallen right in her trap. As has the elderly unionist vote.
NotThePars
She's marketed the party successfully as the sole defenders of the union. Whether this'll hasten the end of the union as the alternative progressive voice of the union dies an overdue death remains to be seen. I feel much more confident of an SNP/ Green campaign against this brutal Tory party.
Shades75
Bit of a minter for the Tories that they only just put Labour into 3rd place. 14 more seats than Labour equates to 1.3% of all seats. That's basically a rounding error. You'd think that they might have done better than that given that they are now the opposition in Holyrood. jagfox
"My, how the ground shook. In future years, everybody will recall just exactly where they were at the moment the Conservatives polled 13% in Paisley North West, when that vast uprising of 657 voters swept their candidate to victory on the 10th set of transfers into the fourth available slot in a multi-member constituency." The Feegie Park fallacy. Oh, lex
