The pyramid works!

Recommended Posts

There is a case and it's spfl supported to create a 5th tier of lowland and highland clubs, maybe with some Premier Colt teams added.

at the moment however, it's not a level playing field. Spfl clubs have to present audited accounts. Non Spfl clubs do not and stories abound amongst players of large cash payments to playing staff of a play off bound club this season.

hopefully HMRC are on to it.

Junior teams are pointless. They are content on winning shit trophies year after year and are probably all old firm fans. They are fine where they are.

Ferranti Thistle?

Works teams, glorified boys club yippee, got no ground or supporters, no problemo, welcome to SFA land.

Come right in.

Junior club with a history and a ground and a support. Full member of the SFA you say, want to play in the Scottish Cup, could you not join some obscure league.

Pyramid system, aye right.

If only the Junior clubs would join the pyramid it would mean we could probably have a Midland League as well as a Highland League and a Lowland League. At present there is no way relegation to the HL would be sustainable for any of the Angus clubs who attract players from a southerly direction. Gone are the days when they attracted players from Aberdeenshire - why would they want to travel to Angus to play in the HL? Some Angus clubs train in Dundee or Stirling and if there was a Midland League then relegation would be more sustainable. The problem with 3 feeder leagues of course would be how to organise the play offs. In a 10 team League 2 you couldn't really relegate two clubs or even three but you maybe could from an 18 club bottom division.
No doubt this will once again inspire the 'Merge Angus' towrags - how are their own team doing this season?

I tried to make a Midland League in a Football Manager mod. But then realised it would be better to have a Lowland East and West. Used the M74 as a rough border between these 2 leagues.

And the mod worked pretty good.

Had almost every team in Senior/Junior football in the pyramid.

EK are a club without "supporters" or "history" and they have gone and won the league and will probably fancy their chances at promotion to the SPFL.

And they don't want to stop there. Funded by a new Brooks Mileson.

f**k me no again

Surely if he was a new Brooks Mileson he'd be signing better players than Jao Vitoria and Jack Smith.

They're good enough for the LL though, you'd expect them to strengthen like any promoted team if/when it happens.

I find this whole crowdw@nk thing rather laughable. Tens of thousands of fans didn't stop Celtic nearly going belly up in the early 90s and didn't stop a spiv (or two) from taking over Rangers. If you look at the number of dodgy spivs involved in getting their cut of the pie down south to the ruination of clubs that have been going for over a century (Leyton Orient for example) I'm quite glad we play in front of 300 fans in a League with no money and that the only dodgy spivs attracted to City are the ones in the boardroom that I've known for years...

Funded by playing Celtic. Where has this new "Gretna" came from?

Not true though. The Celtic game was in round 5 and they'd already beaten a couple of decent sides to get there.

Suppose but the real money spinner for them was obviously Celtic.

Don't get the mentality of some people, they are a new club with big ambition and thanks to them playing Celtic they are able to show their ambition.

You're right. Progress in the game has to be on playing standards, not size of support or whatever. If clubs are unsustainable then they go bust, simple as that.

True but I would question whether they made all that much. Whitehill played Celtic at Easter Road 20 years ago and the secretary told me that Hibs made more from it than WW did.
