capt_oats
Pleased to see that we've clearly gone back to taking facial hair into account with our managerial appointments.

Swello
He's an absolute patter factory - but I like him and I think it's a sensible appointment given how delicate everything still is.

I agree that the delay was probably down to the board wanting end of season vs Kettlewell wanting more security, which I think is fair enough from him.

Aye. As I said the other day. it's closer to us appointing Robinson post-McGhee than it is Hammell post-Alexander IMO. I think most of us would probably have preferred a deal to the summer and see how it goes but as @RandomGuy. mentioned earlier in the thread that kind of ties your hands when it comes to planning. Not even just recruitment but if we're offering contracts to someone like MJ it feels a tougher sell if we don't know who the manager is after summer. I'm not sure a lot of the "wHy dOn'T tHeY wAiT..." crowd realise how stretched we are in terms of staff at the moment. It didn't go unnoticed by me that Kettlewell hit the point re: staff and structure pretty early on in that interview. Short term it feels like the right choice vs. bringing an external candidate in and hoping they hit the ground running.
Handsome_Devil
18 months not a massive shock - you'd hope there's a relegation break clause but given it says we're recruiting to replace him you do wonder.

Would 5 days made a huge difference to this to get another game under his belt? 4 minutes ago, capt_oats said: Short term it feels like the right choice vs. bringing an external candidate in and hoping they hit the ground running. 100%
Richey Edwards
Kettlewell is the first person whose name ends in -well to manage Motherwell. A shocking statistic IMO.

Archie McSquackle
Surprised Aberdeen didn't swoop in for him.

If relegated, Kettlewell knows how to win that division, as a player and a manager. Edited February 22, 2023 by bunglebonce

I don't know how much Flao has been involved with him moving to a rival on Monday, I'd hope a very minor one in the circumstances. I think final say on a manager is from McMahon anyway regardless of the illusion some have. Don't get me wrong, if you said to anyone a week ago 6 points from a possible 9 most of us would have bitten hands off for that so I don't know what Killie would cement, the lions share of what was needed was done by Sunday afternoon. Gianfranco
He really needs to get his other staff appointments right imo. The improvement on Sunday was night and day so hopefully we keep going in an upwards trajectory.

Quatermass
Best of luck to him. Difficult not to give him the job after the the last two results. Hope the players keep giving him the same effort. Massive two games coming up for his season.

He tried to emulate Barcelona but the Twitter bods autocorrect couldn't handle Catalan ...... Top flight staus only behind yours and Celtic's. Our community ethos which we've nurtured over the past decade plays a big part, the mental health stuff, suicide prevention and fan ownership I suppose. And the fact that every one of our fans is a good guy for not being lured away 15 miles to Ibrox and Parkhead. And none of us bite our bottom lip when there's a news story on Dolly. bunglebonce
When he wasn't even being lined up for the Dunfermline and Falkirk jobs, I didn't see where Kettlewell was going to get another gig as a first team manager. It's funny how opportunities open up.
