You're still going by the old rules of Westminster politics - and following the polling norms. By that standard there wouldn't be a Tory government and we'd have comfortably voted remain.

I see the suggestion of a progressive alliance is being put forward in the Guardian. That seems to me to be a very sensible approach.

A progressive alliance is a great idea, it's exactly what the Labour Party have been for the majority of their existence.

Tbh, If you said drinking water was a great idea, I'd have my doubts.

Whereas the prospect of having Owen Smith as leader is super attractive.

Labour are fcuked for the next 5 or 10 years minimum, don't know what the polls say in that regard but they are fcuked nonetheless, polls aren't all that going by the GE result, I never heard or saw a Prof Curtice calling a Tory majority at any point in the lead up to the vote despite there being previous to consider.

The branch office can't break away, because they'd be bankrupt without their subsidies. They're a zombie outfit.

Owen Smith has been currently scrambling for relevance by trying to pick any stance he thinks will win him votes or look 'impressive'. He doesn't and he will lose. If they had a challenger with a consistent stance from the Blairite right like Alan Johnson, then he'd at least have some credibility - though given the Trots in the Momentum movement, such a challenge would struggle to win. Labour will then have to traipse into an election with the mumbleclown in charge and they will get obliterated.

Which is just hilarious.

Corbyn speaking at a rally in York tomorrow - will be good to get a close view of his abilities on front of what may not be a totally sympathetic crowd.

Any reason the crowd may not be sympathetic?

Anyway he should take the York City manager on the stage with him, that way whatever happens he won't be the least popular person there.

Far from the tourist trap of midweek, York city centre at the weekend resembles what might happen if you left a few cases of Bucky in the baboon enclosure of the zoo. Bit of free entertainment? The neds from Clifton and Acomb will fucking love that.

I don't think too many would recognise Ratnamara, let alone bother with him. Not big on local teams for local people, yer average Yorkie.

Why oh why won't corbyn simply play by the rules that we've laid down?

You mean like trying to win a majority in parliament? Because he is a rambling far left clown that hates most of the UKs electorate. This is a guy who is happy to take money from the Iranian regime then moan about human rights.

A party leader that hates the electorate is a bit of a problem.

He is happy to take money from the people who hang you for being gay, Iran. You clearly think he is fine and by extension you are happy with the Iranian governments human rights record.

The guy that wrote that article, Martin Robbins, is not a serious journalist or commentator by any measure.  He has no greater insight or can offer no more critical or informed analysis than dorlomin.  His opinions should be viewed with that in mind.
