Just discovered that Pittodrie is being used as a Polling Station. I'm really annoyed with myself that I've no idea if this is the norm for elections. Any other stadiums in use today as Polling Stations?

quite appropriate as Aberdeen were a-polling last Saturday.

I'll get my coat.

Sadly no longer with us but a decent photo of the old pill box from Borough Briggs popped up on twitter earlier.

There's also a photo of it in one of the Borough Briggs pie stalls. Shame they had to get rid of it.

Via the excellent PictureThis Scotland on twitter, Kilbowie Park in 1993 with the Wet Wet Wet signs on the floodlight pylons. Simpler times, when international pop stars would take an interest in Scottish football teams that weren't the twisted sisters...

Funny you say that I saw that CHVRCHES were shirt sponsors to Whitburn recently

A few years back Biffy Clyro sponsored Bonnyton Thistle for a bit too. Not sure if it was just the kids teams or not but still was good to see the link between the band and the club.

Shame they couldn't have sponsored a non-sectarian school instead.
I find your comment pretty distasteful if I'm honest.

It's a school for children aged 4-12, including a specialist deaf unit, serving a fairly deprived section of Glasgow. I don't think you need to bring sectarianism into this.

Also Mogwai can give their money to whichever school pleases them. The connection here is that a class teacher is a friend of the drummer and asked for some funding to replace some tatty old kit.

Whether or not Catholic schools should exist, or whether their existence is a contributor to sectarianism, is a wholly different matter to challenging a band for paying a few quid to kit out some kids. And I'm not getting involved in that question, having attended both a Catholic and a non-denominational school I can see the arguments plainly.

That's about all I've got to say on this.

Well, I was just going by the name. I was unaware of the link through a teacher. But I feel it's separate schools that fuel the divide between the OF.

And I'm not going to say any more either.

There is no such thing as sectarian schools, only sectarian attitudes to faith schools, as shown here.

Faith schools exist all over the UK, Europe and beyond yet, only in Scotland is their existence worthy of 'debate' .... and I'm being generous with the word debate there. There is a clue in that very fact alone as to the nature of the debate, their existence neither promotes nor advocates sectarian attitudes and behaviour, the rabid hostility to the very fact they exist in Scotland does.

Some web sites have a “frequently asked questions” section

We should have a “frequently trotted out self righteous posturing cliché” section to save time
