That would mean that the Bank of England's monetary policies determining an independent Scotland's interest and exchange rates.
Todders
Britain is totally compliant with EU law and has the benefit of its existing trading arrangements with the EU. They can be replicated in a simple trade agreement, i.e. no tariffs and service passports, that maintains the status quo. Okay...so what was the point if brexit again?
Todders
Free trade, or better trade agreements, with other (non-EU) nations. We can negotiate, but not sign, such agreements before Brexit. A free trade agreement with the EU (rather than Single Market/EEA membership) would also allow us to repeal EU laws that reduce our international competitiveness. So its completely irrelevant that our existing laws are already compatible with the EU/EEA bloc as we'll be repealing or replacing many of them anyway...which brings us back to square one in any negotiations. Have you really thought this through? And no, it is illegal to even negotiate until brexit is complete. And what country in their righht mind would bother negotiating with a moving target.

"Most experts believe any trade deal is likely to take a year to negotiate." That's a hell of a lot quicker than Canada's CETA deal which has been vetoed by Wallonia in Belgium.
Todders
Im sure the experts thought the CETA deal woul be nice and quick too.Anyway, aren't you brave brexiteers sick and tired of the opinions of experts.
Joey Jo Jo Junior Shabadoo
Literally years of lower living standards in the hope we get back, at some indeterminate point in the future, to where we would have been anyway is definitely worth it. If they are part of a group which requires 100% agreement on something then if they disagree, it is right that the EU respects it.
Todders
Pure deflection. Have you any opinions on the EU's protectionism? Why should Wallonia be able to veto CETA? All trading blocs employ protectionist tactics. Thats kind of what they are for. Shouldn't the real question be why does a tiny region of a tiny country in the EU have more power and influence than Scotland?
