If we did lose Strain, which would be a huge loss, at least we would receive a serious wedge. That cash would open up other possibilities for us.

Optimistic IMO we're more likely to lose him for the sorta fee we "agreed" with Bolton for Baccus but on deadline day - and the only thing I liked about the Baccus "deal" was that it was done early in the window.

'Chillie D'🙈 utter cringe

We have form though. It was actually St Mirren’s entry to Walker’s ‘create a new crisp flavour’ competition… ‘Cheesy Chilli & Basil’.

Lost out to Avocado & Quinoa in the final.

With the caveat that it was a friendly, everything productive the team exhibited against Dumbarton a couple of weeks back was through Strain.

I'm becoming increasingly anxious at the prospect of losing him late in the window.  Yes, we might get a reasonable fee, but I would doubt we could use it to replace him with a player who possesses his attributes (and is generally very consistent).  The later he went, the harder it would be to source a replacement before the window shuts.

Unless Strain is champing at the bit to get a shot at a bigger club (which would be entirely reasonable, in all fairness), I hope the club is asking for a prohibitive sum for him.  He is our best player and most prized asset by some distance.

There's a lot more things in life to be anxious about than losing our wing back no matter how good he is. Players come and players go. If I had a pound for every time over the decades I've read if player X leaves we are screwed I would  have bought the club.

No player cannot be replaced at this level and if he left it would be for (relatively) good money. I'm sure clubs have contingency plans for exactly that sort of situation. If he goes, he goes, we just bring in the next potential Strain.

You make it sound easy and as SR would say, this entire window has been far from that.

However, in principle you are correct. We would find someone.  I suspect they would not be as big an asset though, but of course they could be.

Are we gonna romp to a one nil victory today?

First off need a win today, ideally by more than 1 as goal difference could end up being important when it comes to qualifying.

Got to think that 3 two nil wins could be enough but does this team have that in them at the moment?

Friendly against QP we won 3 nil. So you have to believe that it's possible.

Arbroath will sit in and try to keep it tight, but if they lose a goal, they will have to open up a bit
