Ray Patterson
We'll sell you Liam Smith for £5m. Good deal imo.
craigkillie
They'd be as well signing O'Donnell until the end of the season, he'd be cheap and they've got nothing much to play for until the end of the season. I'm not sure he'd be any less productive than Frimpong anyway.

Their game this weekend got moved because their opponents were playing in the League Cup semis. The only other teams idle were us, Hamilton and Dundee United, but they don't have any games to catch up with against any of those clubs.

bennett
Political point scoring? Celtic look to keep slim hopes of 10th consecutive title alive as bottom club Hamilton visit Celtic Park Neil Lennon sees parallels between Celtic and Liverpool, who have suffered a 30 point swing to Premier League leaders Manchester United As Neil Lennon contemplated what have been the best and worst of times in his managerial career, he cited a tale of two cities by way of mitigation. The Celtic manager – whose players are at home to Hamilton tonight – supervised the completion of a fourth successive domestic treble by winning the deferred 2020 Scottish Cup final against Hearts last month, but defeat by Rangers in the New Year Old Firm derby eroded the already slim chance that the Hoops could achieve the 10th successive championship their supporters so ravenously desired. The team’s subsequent warm-weather training trip to Dubai was rendered toxic by political point-scoring and the discovery that Christopher Jullien had tested positive for Covid-19, forcing Lennon, his assistant manager and 13 players to self-isolate during games against Hibs and Livingston, both of which were drawn. A further tied meeting with Livingston last week means that Celtic have yet to record a victory this year. That said, the malaise affecting the team has been evident all season and Lennon suggested a parallel between events in the east end of Glasgow and at Liverpool, where the relationship between club and fans is regarded as similarly symbiotic. “I’m watching with interest how Liverpool are going,” Lennon said. “There is a 30-point swing between them and Manchester United from this time last year. Now that’s not normal - it’s just not normal. Manchester United have improved but not to the extent of it being a 30-point swing.” “Listen, I would not have enjoyed this season as a player. You thrive on the atmosphere. It brings the best out in you. We’ve talked for years of the European nights at Celtic Park where it lifted us to another level. The players have been bereft of that.” “It’s not the total explanation but it is a part of it that there has been a flatness that comes from the lack of energy, atmosphere, rawness that normally the players would pick up on.” Asked if that absence might have had the biggest effect on incoming players who have never experienced a full house on a high-octane occasion at Celtic Park, Lennon said: “The Celtic support is a huge selling point when you are bringing players in, especially players from a different environment, culture and way of playing football. “They can’t go to a restaurant, can’t go for a coffee, be anywhere. It is just training ground or home. Some clubs have adapted better to it, some clubs haven’t and have clearly suffered and we are definitely one of those clubs that have. -

A very odd word to quantify an amount, feels like some dodgy owners have turned up with some cash and a baseball bat. Based on what? Davies is 4 years younger so offer more long term value than Gallagher does. He also plays regularly at a higher level than Gallagher ever has. Not suggesting he will be any good cause I've never seen him play. But it's not madness to think of signing him over Gallagher, especially if its a left sided defender they are after.

He also can play left back which is handy as we only have one permanent left back at the club. Tbh I would take them both right now anyway or come summer as we will have f**k all defenders by then with European qualifiers early doors.

At this rate, you might have f**k all players by the time of the qualifiers. Assuming the likes of Ajer, Ntcham, Edouard and Elhamed will be off at the end of the season. Plus return to parent club of your three loan players. Thats a hell of a big squad gap to fill for mid-June or whatever it is. Proper rework job. Makes it even more mental you arent bringing in Lennon's successor til what looks like the end of the season.
TommyLeePwns
Saddened to hear that Venglos passed away, he was a good man and a pioneer of the game with his methods. Had a keen eye for a player.

Apparently the management reassessment is being known come the end of this week/next week. Hoping to f**k someone comes in now to assess the players for next season. They basically can have a free run at assessing the players for months rather than weeks and in ‘competitive’ games. As I said in the Hamilton match thread I would be leaving out those definitely leaving where possible to give fringe/youth players a chance for next season.

The problem with this is that if your new manager doesn't get results pretty quickly, he'll be written off before the next season even begins. It's what Rangers did to Caixinha and it was a disaster.

It depends on who is coming in, Caixinha appeared to show he was batshit crazy was from the off and brought in players who were never really suited to the British game so it never really looked it was going to happen for him. Right now we will just be happy its not Lennon and if he's says he playing (or indeed not playing) certain players with next season in mind I would like to think he will be afforded time until next season for results. I think not having fans could also be slightly beneficial to a new manager also. A lot would put off managing Celtic right now but for some it may be seen a decent time to come in with less pressure initially and a lot of players leaving if they want to play a certain style/method then they can recruit to suit.
