NJ2
Oh aye there's no doubt he was hungover. He now this second has claimed he had a panic attack so had to phone in sick and go home. It doesn't look good for him. It's a shame really as he's actually pretty sound. We get on well and have the same taste in music and, more importantly, Peep Show. I hope he doesn't get the bullet.Panic attack probably a good avenue for him to go down to prevent getting punted.
Adam
Still can't believe he done himself out of a trip of a lifetime to get MWI the night before with his faither. I hope he does get the sack!

TBF, I'd probably have a panic attack if I realised I had missed a free trip to Vegas and was likely to get the sack.
TheScarf
See there's now a bit of a grey area developing. He's claiming had his phone not packed in he would've been up and at the office for 5am fine. He didn't feel rough, just freaked out as he missed the trip and had to go home. I'm still very skeptical of this.

Blaming his phone (very unlikely as it was working come 7am) and then a panic attack (can’t disprove) maybe save him from the sack but it’s a mark against his name and not a good one.

I think that the only thing he can hope for is that one of the guys that did make it to Vegas killed a hooker.
mathematics
No employer is going to question a panic attack (essentially mental health issue) in this day and age. Minefield.

BallochSonsFan
We're changing to do a different area of work. Big change for those of us who were previously specialist decision makers as we're going back to managing staff. I've spent the time allocated for training going through the same training that the staff got to make an effort to learn what the staff will be doing. A colleague has done the square root of f**k all. She complained yesterday that she'd been in all morning but had sat with very little to do as she didn't really know what she was doing. She somehow tried to spin this as being her bosses fault for failing to provide a bespoke training plan for her. Taking the initiative and actually sitting in with somebody to see what they were doing was clearly a step too far.
Cerberus
Did the guy get fired?
TheScarf
He's on holiday for the rest of the week. Took Tuesday to Friday off to recover from Vegas.....
ICTChris
I don't think he should get fired. It's nothing to do with his work, just a f**k up that people will be laughing about in the future. if he does get fired then he should storm the office in a digger like that Scouser in the travel lodge.

It's everything to do with his work, he phoned his boss in a late bid to get on the flight, was told no chance and to get his arse into work then he phoned in sick! Pretending you've had a panic attack is a pretty cunty thing to do too, IMO.
Brother Blades
If all the bosses were in Vegas, who snitched on him for throwing a sickie? I’d say that’s pretty poor behaviour. Lad probably feels bad enough without losing his job.

As my post above, the guy himself phoned his boss to try and get on the flight and then phoned in sick when he was told to get to work. He's grassed himself in essentially.
welshbairn
He would have had plenty time to get to Inverness airport for the BA 1225 Heathrow flight for about £100. Silly c**t.
