Bairnardo
It is called presenteeism. Some people think hard work is all about the hours you work and not about the work that you do. I imagine they are scornful of the lazy winner of the marathon who spends less time running the race than any of the other finishers.Correct ^^^ Pish. Big Team found then. It's called a 'Work ethic'. philpy
Grumpy, selfish, arsehole foreman Got pulled up today for taking his lunch at ridiculous times. To put you in the picture, I go at 12, the other lad 12.30, and he is meant to go 1-2. This never happens, and despite being told before, he often doesn't got till after 2pm, often around 2.30. He is ex-forces, with incredibly annoying attention to detail with borderline OCD and the personality of a plank of wood. He is the type of guy who, if I shifted 4 pallets of plywood and put them back in 3 inches too far to the left, would take them all back out and restack them all. A lot of regular customers don't approach him because of his attitude, which is frustrating as f**k for me and the other lad, as It can have a knock on effect during extremely busy times. His face today was a picture though, and the seethe was there for all to see.
charon
Knock the f**k out him. If not up that..... Guaranteed he's got PTSD so keep shouting "BOOOOM" behind his back. Start dressing more 'Muslimy' , ™XBL©® , a nice thick vest for example. He'll quickly melt into psychosis, they usually do

Boghead ranter
I was once grilled by my line manager, in a monthly review, why I pretty much worked my contracted hours, while all my colleagues were doing minimum 5 or 6 hours unpaid OT per week. I pointed out that as me and my team were exceeding all targets set, surely the question should be getting asked of all my colleagues as to why they couldn't achieve their results In less time? She never broached the subject again. Edited February 5, 2020 by Boghead ranter

Do you think it reflects a strong work ethic to be in the office even if you have nothing to do? Maybe for some jobs but not all. In my experience it is often about an employer who takes a slack attitude to overtime as in "we will pay it if you do it but we won't check if you actually needed to".

Doctor
I dont think my workmate gets that no-one wants to hear about her daughters 5th year biology exam much less get a daily update on her study progress and test results. I don't mind people occasionally speaking about their kids, not in the slightest, but theres only so many times I can hold a smile through "Elizabeth got 80% on her past paper last night".

Plus i genuinely like work and the company I am with, i get paid very well and i will eventually become one of the wanks at the top. So doing an hour a day extra is no sweat.
