We have 4 goalkeepers coming in on trial (2 are from England), Hopkin will also run the rule over trialists for the attacking area of the park. Alludes to being very close to a couple of targets but missing out. It basically sounds like we’re going to have a number of trialists in training and hope a few turn out not to be dug meat rather than actually identifying players that he wants to sign and going out and getting them. Yup - not a single big signing and simply hoping we strike lucky with a trialist. What a depressing mess.

honestly united
No wanting to defend Hopkin as his recruitment /tactics etc so far hasn't been great but looking back at the 2019/20 season (below) which was McCall's last season and a big rebuild as well, our first signing was (according to wiki) 13th June - most season have been the same, with the majority of signings happening in July - season before Harvie was end June, MUrdoch mid July, and Smith mid August, season before Shankland was September! Majority of signings tend to be in the week or so before the group stages start - every season the same people are in a panic that we haven't signed anyone. Maybe, but we were working from a much stronger base with Murdoch, Moore, Docherty, Kerr, Muirhead, Bell, Forrest, Harvie, Geggan, Adams and McCowan. The alarm bells are ringing (for some) as we are looking at a major rebuild and appear to be absolutely nowhere.

UpInTheAyr
Between Hopkin and Duffy the experience they have between them they should not have a club anywhere near the bottom of the table regardless (almost) of what squad they have. If they do they should both pack it in. I am looking forward to Hoppy's next interview though and finding out what the aim for the season is.

Tbf both had their sides, Hopkin twice technically, rooted to the bottom part of their respective tables last season. I genuinely can't think of a worse pairing in terms of transfer business too. Hopkin benefitted from Livingston have an outrageous scouting system and someone above him making the decisions, on his own it's been scandalously bad at every club. While Duffy has spent the last 5 years solely signing cripples, b*****ds, and broken things that he finds at the exit trials and on the PFA free agents list. Better hope he's got zero point in recruitment and you're just reliant on Hopkin being able to judge a player based on one match and 2 training sessions.

diegomarahenry
So we have gone from signing young, hungry players with a point to prove to having agents showcase free transfers to us. We have gone from a core squad, losing some quality every summer and replacing it to having a squad left of players we don't really want and the only quality we have went to Dundee. We have gone from a club that promotes young talent and an attractive club for young talent to come to, To a team that is looking at jobbers from England. The surprise is, it all happened in two years. What the f**k is going on
