With Celtic and Sevco being drawn at home in the last-16, they opted to only show the Dundee derby, keeping their options open for the quarter finals. When the TV deal got announced it was to be 6 group games (i.e. 2 each weekend) - I think that's largely been stuck to, perhaps they didn't show a 6th game one year? - and 7 knockout ties on the basis of 2 per round. However the last 2 seasons the R2 midweek clashed with the UEFA Supercup: in the first season SPFL let them hold-over the game and show 3 QFs... Tue-Wed-Thu... and they repeated that arrangement last season too. However as you say Sat-Sun in R2 and Tue-Wed in QFs might be more likely than showing just a single R2 game now it's a weekend, or maybe they can similarly hold-over a groupstage game into R2.
