No one is discouraging kids from going to games you fucking flange, im merely highlighting the hypocrisy of, on one hand folk moaning about early kick offs being too early and later kick offs being too late, if you're not going to go to a game because getting home at 11.00 or so leaves junior sleepy for school the following day you are a fucking melt.

It's like no one ever takes weans to concerts or fitba games during the week.

Suppose the spfl could change it to hearts v sheep and us v you lot, just to shut them up.

It wasn't taken into account because it was quite unexpected that we'd make the groups even by Rangers fans.

They've taken into account for the final because they've made the assumption that Celtic will be in the final and also in European groups.

I agree that yourselves reaching the group stage was unexpected. I never expected it myself, and neither did any of the Rangers fans I know. However, with 3 Scottish teams in the EL qualifiers it's always possible for one team to either have an incredible good run of form and/or extreme luck with the draws and end up in the group stage as a result. With how the CL/EL qualifiers are set up in the new structure, it's quite a task for any Scottish champions to actually qualify, but the chance to reach the EL group stage is quite big if it goes wrong, so Celtic were always likely to get there. So in my opinion, they should have taken it into account.

So apparently there's no contractual obligation for league cup semi finals to be at Hampden. There is however a contractual obligation for any semi final involving Celtic or Rangers to be played at Hampden. Literally one set of rules for those teams and another for the rest.

Apparently the police were unwilling to accept the Celtic vs Hearts league game taking place on the semi final weekend and the cup game taking place the following week as it would involve both Celtic and Rangers playing in Glasgow on the same day. It seems that for some reason that is fine if it's at the same stadium even in different games.

There is a proviso to say one of the semi finals could have taken place if the police did not deem the SPFL plan acceptable. This to me suggests the SPFL bent over backwards to accommodate the police (hence the ridiculous kick off times) in order to ensure the police didn't object. They would rather that that create a positive solution for fans.

Police Scotland eh? What a bunch of japesters!

Last season for our Irn Bru Cup game in Buckie they had a massively over the top police presence. They had police vans (plural) patrolling the high street and the streets around the ground for at least 2 hours before kick off. Other officers went round all the pubs to do a 'check'. They came in to the pub we were in on at least 2 occasions. They ordered Buckie Thistle to have their stewards give every single visiting fan a scan with a handheld scanner before letting them go to the turnstyles. They closed the bar at the ground before kick off and didn't open it again until after full time.

Attendance was 606.

Yet the semi final situation is fine according to them.

Well they also say there is an obligation to play at Hampden if the attendance is going to be 20,000+, so even without the Celtic/Rangers clause, any semi-final involving them is going be popular enough anyway for it to be played there. https://spfl.co.uk/news/betfred-cup-semi-final-q-a

There's no way Morton fans would have the same difficulty getting from Greenock to Edinburgh on a Saturday  as it is from Aberdeen to Glasgow on a Sunday so it's not the same at all. Adding that it was also forcing extra travel for Aberdeen fans  to play at a deserted stadium when the occasion would have been vastly improved at Easter Road or Tynecastle.
So again not the same at all as some imagined slight you have in your head.

The game was originally scheduled for Hampden, moving it to Edinburgh would have increased total travelling time for the fans and so there was no valid reason to do so. Your sense of ‘occasion’ being of course absolutely irrelevant to that decision. And it certainly wasn’t going to get moved once your club tried to pull a fly one and secure fully three quarters of the ground for themselves for a neutral cup tie.

So your fans whining about other teams influencing the schedule is a full-blown minter after cheering on Aberdeen’s similar antics just two years ago.

Morton v Aberdeen wasn't near 20,000.

Well yeah obviously but still wouldn't have been any more travelling than Aberdeen fans would have had to do to get to Edinburgh either.

It's really bizarre that your whole opinion is clouded by offence you took at the suggestion that playing a semi final in a two thirds empty stadium might not be a good idea. Doesn't really sound like your opinion on whether teams should be allowed to query any SPFL decisions  is based on any real convictions or standards either and more like a childish grudge?

I’m not a fan of cockwomble, SPFL, Unions, the polis or, actually, any of the three other clubs involved. f**k ye’s all!

But I’ve got to hand it to the boy from the polis union on Reporting Scotland (Hamilton his name I think) who admirably hit the nail on the head succinctly - to paraphrase - the decision to schedule this suits the blazers and no-one else.
