I think anyone going in an underground tunnel is braver than me in the first place, those things scare the life out of me.

(Under water that is)

Indeed they are. But just show it for what it is - a road from England to Northern Ireland. Don't dress it up by putting something in from Stranraer at a cost of multiple, multiple £billions.

It's a total joke anyway. If that ever gets started, people in govt will need to be sectioned for all our safety.

The media utterly agog with excitement as BJ is just about to announce to the house the govt's roadmap for schools returning, and some kind of cautious easing of lockdown restrictions. This despite the fact, they've been clearly pretty well briefed as to what exactly BJ is going to say.

Westminster Politics is a fucking charade.

They need to brief the journalists early otherwise Peston wouldn't have enough time to compose his never-ending questions.

That's a lot of fishery protection boats to keep British fish happy...

Aye right. Apparently our defence procurement is along the lines of a kid in a sweet shop and the UK gets ripped off/buys a lot of useless crap. I'm always intrigued by seeing miserable looking squaddies driving up the motorway in army lorries that look as if they were purchased when Harold Wilson was PM and the Beatles were together.

That’s because the UK only buys vanity projects for photo opportunities instead of the equipment the Armed Forces actually need. They might have shiney new planes, tanks and ships but their personal equipment, accommodation and general infer-structure has been allowed to deteriorate with either not being replaced and refurbished or simply being replaced by lower quality equipment. There’s loads of defence spending but it rarely in the areas the actual guys in the jobs need it.

Voters do not trust Boris Johnson to take country out of lockdown safely, poll finds

And yet:

That contradiction shows all that you need to know about Starmer’s leadership.

Or maybe ‘lack of leadership’ would be more precise.

The UK actually wastes an absolute fortune on all the humdrum routine stuff too through the magic of outsourcing procurement. Why pay £50 to get a pair of boots when you can secure a supply for £150 a pair and a future consultancy/directorship for the minister of defence.

It's not happening, it's just to fool people north of Birmingham that the government think about them. See the northern powerhouse as a previous example.

"North of Birmingham" is such an outdated concept. "Outside the M25" is the current area about which the Tories do not a fùck give.
