Exclusive: Britannia to rule the waves once more, with new royal yacht named after Prince Philip

You couldn't make it up.

A yacht for Prince Andrew to carry on shagging girls  out of sight of the press.

If this is true it's a sad state of affairs as we head into a severe economic recession.

The last one had 200 crew paid for by us so that the royals could go cruising as they wished.

Forget all that pathetic nonsense that the royal yacht drums up business, we have embassies for that, it's main purpose is for the royals pleasure.

There are enough people who see the Royals as personal friends, and who feel genuine love for them that this sort of shit should be crowd funded these days.

If our ‘nuclear deterrent’ was crowd funded it would look something like this.

Given our reliance on the USA and the unlikely circumstances in which it could actually be used, I prefer the description "unclear deterrent".

The only surprising thing about this is that is isn't being funded from our foreign aid budget.

Good idea. Let's do it for Trident as well.

I read an article the other written by an Admiral working in the MOD and he had been working on a project where an Independent Scotland would insist on removing the Nuclear base at Faslane, basically he said that relocating the base would be impossible as Milford Haven was now over industrialised and Portsmouth was heavily populated, which made me think that wasn't the Glasgow conurbation heavily populated and industrialised?, anyway he came to the conclusion that the best way forward was to come to a leased deal with Scotland where the base would stay where it was and Scotland would benefit financially.

So this guy on a big salary with a few free uniforms has decided that it's too dangerous to move the base to england but it's alright for the sweaty sox to have it on their doorstep with all the first strike raining down on us.

He's fuckin nuts and we're paying the nutter to come away with shite.

The Queen's worth millions, if she wants a boat she can fucking pay for it

Make that Billions, Windsor Castle and her surrounding acres would be worth hundreds millions alone to a developer, and throw in Sandringham and Balmoral, plus the Royal Art Collection, the biggest in the world, all of her paintings, jewelry and sculptures situated in 13 Royal residences are worth an estimated 10 Billion Pounds.

And she outright owns it all

I've just been on Google and found that HMTQ's stamp collection is worth £100 million. That should buy an anchor or two.

I'm sure she's saved some money in her kitty. She should sail it up the west coast on her holidays.

The most mental thing about this of course is that the Queen will be gone soon, and only the staunchest extremist will keep up licking the boots of the cringeworthy dregs that will then make up "The Royal Family"

It’s not just the cost of the yacht itself otherwise a simple crowd fund could pay for their pish idea. like the last one it’ll require a permanent escort ship so the Royal Navy will have to give up a frigate to watch the Royals on their pleasure cruise in the same way the RAF has lost a strategic tanker so BoJo can fly around the world in a gigantic Union Jack. There is zero requirement for a Royal yacht or a plane for Boris its just vanity and ego that we’re still a world player and not an insignificant island no one gives a shit about.

My understanding was that there is nowhere in England with a deep enough coastal  area to accommodate what Faslane can.  You'd think they'd be able to stick the warheads themselves on a shelf in a cupboard right enough.

Isle of Man is suitable and has open water access.

You see when we gain Independence the relocation of the Faslane Base has been identified as the single biggest cost to the remaining uk, so all this talk of nowhere suitable in england for the relocation is nonsense, as above the Isle of Man is perfectly suitable, the problem is as I said is cost plus public opinion.

The Firth of Clyde is deep enough at around 150 Metres for submarine secret access and egress but even then you will remember when the british submarine dragged the Tatbert fishing boat the Antares down and drowning all four of the crew.

You do realise that the Isle of Man is not part of the UK?

There is nowhere in the rUK that could realistically replace Faslane and Coulport.
