So they either weren't really doing much and said it for effect or they're a bit crap at vetting candidates. What has he said/done/written that makes him horrible? He may well be horrible but I’d like to know his crime.
Billy Jean King
BBC reporting one if the "offences" was liking a post depicting George Soros as a puppet master controlling world leaders. WTF got to be more to it than that. The SNP candidate has been dropped after “allegations of anti-Semitism”. I cannot find any reference to what he has said/done/written.

JamieThomas
Absolutely bizarre being anti-semitic in Scotland. There's literally more Kilmarnock fans than there are Jewish folk in the country.
O'Kelly Isley III
Some candidates have been done for accounts they closed years ago. It would be hard to check, and do they have the staff to comb through 10 years of social media accounts anyway? It's my understanding that during political candidate vetting invariably the candidates are asked directly if there is anything in their past history which may reflect badly at some future point. Social media has now amplified that 1000 times. However there is no a risk of Salem witch-hunts for anyone who has ever laughed at a Bernard Manning joke, and that's most of us. Maybe the answer is for politicians to keep clear of social media, or at least keep the heid and only post when sober.
Billy Jean King
Well aware of Soros and his background. Just feel the whole anti semitism thing is getting more tenuous by the day. Yes Soros is a Jew but an image of him controlling puppets of world leaders is not anti semitic. There must be more to this. It is literally part of the campaign of hate the Nazis used. (Jews control world finance). https://rationalwiki.org/wiki/International_Jewish_conspiracy Quote The existence of an international Jewish conspiracy (or international Zionist conspiracy) is an anti-Semitic canard which regularly features in various racist conspiracy theories. Quote More recently there have been conspiracy theories targeting financier George Soros, whose actions including promoting liberal democracy in eastern Europe and opposing Brexit in the UK are seen as part of a Jewish conspiracy to impose western rule on Eastern Europe and deny the will of the British people.[14] Also the idea of one person controlling world finance or anything similar is a conspiracy theory. Quote A conspiracy theory is an explanation of an event or situation that invokes a conspiracy by sinister and powerful actors, often political in motivation,[2][3] when other explanations are more probable.[4] The term has a pejorative connotation, implying that the appeal to a conspiracy is based on prejudice or insufficient evidence.[5] Conspiracy theories resist falsification and are reinforced by circular reasoning: both evidence against the conspiracy and an absence of evidence for it, are re-interpreted as evidence of its truth,[5][6] and the conspiracy becomes a matter of faith rather than proof.[7][8] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conspiracy_theory Edited November 28, 2019 by dorlomin
Guest Jedi
Interesting that the Tory message (apart from Stop Indy Ref 2), is always that Labour would tax and spend and destroy the public finances. Yet, in the last 9 years, The UK has grown to have the sixth-largest government debt out of 26 advanced economies, and the fifth-largest budget deficit out of 35 advanced economies, (heading for 88.8% of national income this year). Ironically, public spending under the Tories of late has been a fair shade higher than under the Blair govts as well. Naturally, public spending had to increase post crash due to the significantly reduced tax receipts. (these receipts being only 0.03% higher now than they were in 2010). Heath, Pensions and Overseas Aid are the only 'plus' spending areas since 2010 while education and defence have been cut. https://www.ifs.org.uk/publications/9180 https://www.ukpublicspending.co.uk/recent_spending Conclusions from all that....despite Tory accusations of Labour always running up national debt, it is the Tories who have significantly grown national debt over the last 9 years, although in fairness, the overall deficit has come down. Next up...could Labour's plans to spend been absorbed within the economy..unlikely, and lastly, we hear a lot about Scotland running a fiscal deficit which is unsustainable, black holes etc, and yet the UK manages to run with nearly 90% of debt to public income, and has the 5th largest budget deficit out of 35 comparable countries, yet how often do we hear about that?

jamamafegan
Ha! Brilliant, at the end of that debate Nicola says “I’m the only one here who’s in government and we need to do more, we aren’t doing enough.” Few annoyed reactions followed as the cameras turned away to conclude the show but you could just make out the Green Leader saying “well you’re doing a good job!” and Nicola saying “thank you! Green Leader btw, just going to say it but WID.

Not open, but hiding; not straightforward but crafty; not honest but base; not national but international; does not believe in working but speculates with money; does not have its own homeland but feels it owns the whole world.”
