I wouldn't be so sure of that given a not insignificant segment of the commentariat are currently focusing their ire at Owen Jones for depriving Rupert Murdoch of more money rather than the government being slaughtered in the Sunday Times.
mizfit
Just on the schools thing in england they dont finish for summer until the last week of July. I would expect they will go back even if it is only for 6 weeks of the summer term. Not trying to act the c**t here in any way but the only silver lining in this is that it isn't killing children apart from those with serious underlying issues. It doesn't seem to have affected them anywhere near as much as adults/the elderly. The return to school talk does seem more aimed towards England. Not much point in Scottish schools returning until August time.

That’s why nothing will change. Sickly sweet stories about the NHS or Captain Tom is the complete opposite to the US where coronavirus is politically polarising and being used by the Democratic media to try and inflict as much damage on the Republicans and Trump as possible. Neither is helpful. This should be a bipartisan issue.

Mastermind
Is wee Jeane actually doing anything about testing or is she clueless and just leaving up to big nasty Westminster? Could have been the perfect time to show some leadership and take control of something that is actually her responsibility. -

Guest JTS98
A small thing, perhaps, but wise to keep in mind that it's not always best to read too much into changes being made in other countries, as they may not always be as reported in the UK and they will not be dealing with the same circumstances. For example, some will see the report that is on the Guardian website right now saying that South Korea is going to 'ease its lockdown' and read something into that about what may or may not happen where you are. But South Korea does not have a 'lockdown'. People in Korea are out and about. My mate was texting me from a pub in Itaewon earlier this evening. Another friend of mine was out in Suwon last night. There are restrictions in place in Korea, but most people are still going to work and life is more or less continuing. For the Guardian to report that they are 'easing a lockdown' is misleading. Perhaps a reminder not to take media reports on other countries at face value. There's a lot of confusion and misinformation doing the rounds.

Billy Jean King
But th8e can still carry it and infect others even more so if the schools go back. Billy Jean King
Really...as the president addresses the nation nightly praising demonstrators protesting against their state governors lockdown. The same president who says he will (reluctantly but legally with no alternative) let the governor's decide when lockdown can end !!! And that's just in classrooms - not to mention the corridors between classes, dining halls, gym halls, playgrounds, dropoffs / pickups before / after school, even the logistics of getting them onto buses. I can't see schools reopening in anything like a "normal" form when Social Distancing is still a thing. The two are massively incompatible. We have been lucky that the our grandkids are getting into nursery 2 days a week.

peasy23
There have been quite a few conspiracy theories surrounding Covid 19, including it being a Chinese bioweapon, and/or 5G being to blame. Maybe we should look closer to home. The main website is effectively a moment frozen in time, and guess what the video is playing? St. Mirren scoring against Hearts. Coincidence? https://www.pieandbovril.com/ Edited April 19, 2020 by peasy23
