Absolutely astounded that an investigation led by the government which could potentially have made the government look bad, has in fact exonerated the government?
CALDERON
That statement about wanting to lock hospitality down further was fucking shocking. She's trying to initiate a subconscious lockdown by spreading fear. Funny how money appeared out of nowhere today.
Dons_1988
I’m still really confused why there’s been such a big build up to essentially asking people to be cautious. What a weird statement.

I mean it's pie in the sky as that's not what she has said but businesses should be fully compensated when staff have to isolate for example. I agree it's not proportional to shut down places but when the isolation rules are still in place it's going to ruin businesses. Just now, Michael W said: Maybe the Scottish Government could deploy its revenue raising powers to pay for it if this is the emergency Sturgeon thinks it is? Income tax? Can't think of anything that would raise enough cash, and income tax is paid from HMRC to SG retrospectively.

A strange episode all round. Not really, you know that more is coming as soon as they get a sniff of furlough. If we were independent we would have absolutely followed Ireland in not opening up fully in the autumn and going back into a soft lockdown around now

I think Sturgeon making fairly clear that, if she had it her way, she'd have SHUT DOWN an entire business. Something that gives a huge number of people social interaction, company, joy, as well as employment, despite 90% of population + having 2 doses of an effective vaccine, all vulnerable given a THIRD dose, 2 years after Covid was first in the country.....if anything, I've seen an under reaction at her words today.
101
Dougal is right the self isolation thing is going to knacker any business that manages to keep their head above water, daily testing of LFT is surely the answer. England are doing that aren't they?
scottsdad
Surely the only effect of the teasing of restrictions, the rumours, the build-up to what is essentially a non-announcement is a massive amount of damage done to the mental health of people who are absolutely done in by the last 2 years.
