Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Recommended Posts

Ross County having to forfeit their League Cup tie with Forfar due to people at the club having to isolate from a COVID-19 outbreak. Forfar being awarded a 3-0 win.
With the infection rate being where it is and with the current rules in place the upcoming season is going to be a shambles

This was always more likely to be August here, wasn't it? Level 0 for July is a bit of a nothing change in many ways.

Not if you want to reliably get to the football it isn't, assuming that crowd restrictions get punted back with the rest.

There's no justification for yet another delay.

Good to see that the SG won't allow the young people of this country to become guinea pigs for the experiment.

The first minister says young people who have not been double vaccinated cannot be treated like "guinea pigs" as restrictions ease.

While the majority of cases appear in younger people, she says there could still be a significant health impact, for example for those suffering from long Covid.

Except that they already were "treated as guinea pigs" by pretending that the weans couldnae get it and ignoring social distancing requirements, when it suited the SG pandering to the snippy parent brigade.

Completely two-faced, self-righteous drivel then.

What I meant was that this wasn't a delay, that was never planned for July, aside from the outdoor social distancing part which wouldn't have applied to football grounds anyway. The August date is the big one for football.

The forfeits are only for the League Cup groups, a league game would be postponed and rescheduled unless the rules have changed since last season.

What was the original plan for July? Was it 1m distancing?

Eg - when she says social distancing will remain after 19th July it’s not necessarily the same as it is today?

The original plan was for removal outdoors and reduction to 1m in all indoor premises.

More self-righteous nonsense

Ms Sturgeon says she "does not accept as inevitable" any number of deaths or hospitalisations.

Tbf to her here, she didn't say she wanted zero either.

She said it was her responsibility to limit deaths as much as possible.

I think her answer was absolutely fine.

Quite.

It has been accepted at every stage of this pandemic that hospitalisations and deaths are inevitable. The actions taken have to to mitigate and minimise these, not eliminate them.

This is a meaningless statement copied straight out of Gurdasani's book, which is where such statements ought to remain.

I dont get why we need to wait for every last fit and healthy 20 year to be double dosed. If they get covid unvaccinated then in 99.9% of cases there would be no issue, same with if they get it when double vaccinated tbh. Restrictions should have been punted when the elderly and vulnerable were double dosed, eeking things out is a continual moving of the goalposts and a breach of powers imo

No politician is going to say it in public - what else was she gonna to say?

It’s just virtue signalling independent sage type nonsense to say that no death or illness from covid is inevitable. There will always be some as long as covid exists.

Just as deaths from car accidents are an inevitable consequence of having roads open.

Yes that's what I took from her answer too.

Very reasonable response.

Out of interest, are you getting vaccinated?
