Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Recommended Posts

Similarly we've got a house full coming tomorrow. Am I f**k asking any of them to do an LFT pre arrival and/or wear a mask at any stage of the day/evening. I'll also not be opening any windows unless my flatulence gets out of control after a shedload of sprouts. Probably more deadly than Omicron tbh.

I’m getting negative lateral flow results but I’m starting to feel a bit run down and feel that I have a metallic taste in my mouth as if I’m losing my sense of taste a bit.

Acute radiation sickness, nothing to worry about....

....until next week.

Merry Christmas.

How many times did you take a daily antigen test for the flu, never mind a glorified cold, before visiting family members prior to January 1st 2020? Be specific.

It's time to place your behaviour in a rational, long-term perspective again. If you can't do that then yes, you really are a weirdo tbh.

I don't bother doing lateral flow tests and would happily scrap all restrictions tomorrow.

I don’t think doing a Lateral Flow Test before visiting a vulnerable relative is *that* weird tbf.

But anyone suggesting wearing masks in the house has clearly lost it 😂😂

Any vulnerable relative has now had three vaccinations and is now dealing with a variant so shan that it is scrambling for relevance against the common cold in terms of both symptoms and severity.

If people choose to isolate against that wave then that's entirely up to them, but requiring all house guests to get tested for the scary big plague before crossing the doorstep is not in the festive spirit IMHO.

Speaking of festive spirit, this post is sponsored by Glenfarclas 15.

I was told 2-3'days to get my PCR results. The self reporting system is fucking risible though. My sequence was:

- Report positive LFT
- Go for PCR
- Get message from T&P to say my LFT was+
- get sent a 6 digit code to register year result
- get another notification about a positive test (thought that must be PCR)

Nope, it was then telling me my LFT was positive which I alread knew because I'd reported it in the first place

Anyway, deteriorated a bit last night and felt horrendous. Not too bad this morning. Pretty much along the lines of a mild flu.

I see Thailand's test and go system has f***ed up waving through without quarantine the already vaccinated, those dirty foreigners again. New Year is cancelled in Bangkok. Not the only place in the world for that to happen.

New Year celebrations have not been cancelled.  Only the government run celebrations have been cancelled, everything else is happening and open for business.

Test and Go was a complete fail from the 1st day, how it's lasted so long nobody knows.

My in laws knew theres been a cold kicking about our house for the last week. They said of you do any sort of test and it comes back positive, dont tell us. Wer not cancelling Christmas.

Tbh, im not sure id have allowed it to carry on, but I appreciate the sentiment from them and genuinely feel for some of the folk in the stories on this thread. Especially the debacle Dons1988 was being put through

I don’t have a massive problem with testing tbf. My father in law had a stroke relatively recently, I have an uncle who has had a heart attack and a stroke in the past couple of years. I get why they are nervous, how couldn’t you be with the way the news is? So if me testing negative gives them comfort then fair enough.

Where I draw the line is someone imposing rules on people and forcing me to be part of a self imposed lockdown.

My eldest stepdaughter has fallen out with us because we won't go over to hers on Boxing Day.

The reason is that she tested positive just 3 days ago. I'm not personally scared but I'm not prepared to risk it when I'll be seeing elderly relatives over the next week who all have underlying health conditions - one being my stepfather who has Alzheimers and is in a care home.

We've tried to explain but, quite frankly, she (and my son-in-law) just won't listen. They are both unvaccinated - both have had Covid twice and heading down the anti-vaxx rabbit hole. We've no issue with her choices - what we do have an issue with is the guilt-tripping shite that accompanies it. She's already called her mum selfish - the same mum who's undergone cancer treatment and who's immune system has been weakened because of that treatment - I genuinely despair.

That is mental tbf. Literally has Covid and demanding someone with a weakened immune system goes round and essentially intentionally catches it.
