Another potential issue with long-term WFH is insurance. I recall home insurers saying at the start that there was no need to advise them if you were WFH temporarily, but imagine that will change if your house becomes your permanent, primary place of employment.

Depends. Most home insurers allow "clerical" work as standard.

I'm not denying that some people are going to be hit hard by all this.
That doesn't change the fact that a great number of people are actually going to be able to weather this without too much change in their budgets.
It's the same reason that so many people vote Tory despite their treatment of people at the bottom.
We are in general a very rich country with plenty of the population living very comfortably. And there's enough of those people around to keep out genuinely left wing governments across the UK for decades.

You are assuming that those most affected will all be at the bottom but that is unlikely to be the case here. I think this is going to continue to affect people at all levels except the very well off - those who can afford the accountants to avoid taxes.

I'm struggling to see how they can claw back expenditure at the bottom as they've already cut Welfare significantly in the past 12 years - in fact, only NHS spending has been relatively unscathed - hence the concerns over creeping privatisation within the NHS.

That leaves 2 options - don't bring down debt as fast (unlikely given their stance over the last 12 years) or tax through indirect consumption taxes or taxes aimed at the middle earners - clearly the route their going to take given the rise in NI. Just watch the other stealth taxes that come in to repay the Covid bill.

But the Tories aren't stupid either - they don't need to keep a majority of the electorate happy - just the 40% that actually vote - less than a third of the electorate. We've also seen that there is (in England in any case) a significant number who'll vote Tory not for economic reasons but purely xenophobic reasons. Don't be surprised if they shift further right on the issues of race and immigration. It also provides a convenient scapegoat if things do get worse economically.

The SG will be made to look foolish if they keep restrictions when the rest of the UK are getting rid of them.

Funnily enough, as a pharmaceutical company who produce and sell lots of medical treatments, they do actually regularly discuss medical conditions.

Pfizer didn't just start existing when their vaccine did.

indeed but its still some tweet given the jab blood clotting concerns

That’s Michelle O’Neill just confirmed that at midnight all restrictions become guidance. Over to you Nicky.

The framework update for next week will be interesting.

Good luck expecting people to put up with restrictions when the rest of the UK is removing them.

The Scottish Government losers will follow, rather than lead. Probably not for another few weeks.

Tinpot, risible clowns.

That's certainly not stopped them before! I'm sure their 'strategic framework' will be riveting stuff.

Remember just a few weeks back when the bald, speccy tube was telling us how vaccine passports, masks and contact tracing would be a means to manage covid and life wouldn't be the same as before the pandemic? Every other country in Europe has humiliated the SNP.

Even Michelle fucking O'Neill has the gumption to know the reality ffs.
