Coronavirus and the Scottish Championship

How long do you think it takes insurers to stump up huge sums of cash normally, never mind during a wider economic collapse? The chances are most businesses will have to take their claims to the ombudsman to adjudicate; if the government sticks to its word (in March) about pressing insurers to fulfil even standard business disruption clauses then they've got a chance though.

They will be doing well to convince the auditors that recognising a debtor in the next set of accounts is reasonable.

Could all fans not have face masks to attend games

No away fans

All players and officials would have to be tested at no cost to the clubs..

No, wouldn't comply with social distancing measures. Face masks don't negate that.

Also, who would pay for the tests then?

Also where do we get the face masks from when PPE is under huge pressure?

If you place an order for any piece of clothing online through the Paul & Shark website you will be receive two complimentary face masks.   You may as well do lockdown in style.

Any club wishing to make some money should be onto this immediately and get ones with their club crest as mouth and nose coverings  are going to be used well into next year

Is that not Aberdeen? Been pretty widely documented.

ETA: Aye, it is. https://www.afc.co.uk/2020/03/26/aberdeen-football-club-urges-insurers-to-do-the-right-thing/

We're still completely fine.

I was going to ask Dundee supporters about this.

I've just had a conference call today, and one of the topics was how few 'business interruption incurance' policies are going to get paid, as almost of them have very specific clauses on pandemics (if any at all - most don't cover this it seems).

Is there official word that this is being paid? Not stirring, just nosy!

We have added, 'Notifiable Diseases and Prevention of Access to our Commercial Combined Insurance Policy'.

Normal Business Interruption policies will likely be a grey area, but as the law firm Pinsent Masons states:

'The most likely route to cover for coronavirus-related losses are extensions to cover found in some business interruption policies. These are often triggered by non-physical damage such as closure of premises or denial of access.

There are extensions which specifically cover infections or contagious diseases or losses flowing from the inability to use business premises due to restrictions imposed by a public authority.'

Which, going by our club statement - we have.

You don't need a PPE face mask.

There are businesses up and down the country right now that are operating with more than 300 staff on site (the ballpark figure to hold a televised game behind closed doors) at any given time. These sites enforce the existing advice and so are not a hotbed of infection. The actual risk of holding a closed door football match is minimal to everyone involved; it just makes absolutely no business sense to do so in Scotland, when gate reciepts are such a key part of the clubs' revenue stream

And quite how is the period of disruption defined in this wonderful insurance policy of yousr and how many months of disruption are you covered for?

How am I supposed to know that?

Some form of insurance is better than none and we seem pretty confident that we are well covered. Shame that others are desperate to pour scorn on that in these times.

Agreed.

There might be a business case for games in the Premiership due to TV interest.  However, games have to be on a channel with advertising for enough revenue to be generated.   In the real world that is going to be Sky, and lots of people either never had Sky or can't afford it any more.  The Scottish Government have been clear that they won't accept the risk that lots of fans gather to watch games, breaching social distancing rules and risking an increase in the spread of the virus.

I can accept that logic.  However, the same logic has to apply in England.  I am sceptical about that.

Cheaper just buying the masks, at £99 a pop.
