The Elgin chairman's terrified of getting punted back to the Highland league, and he doesn't want clubs like Brora and Kelty coming up and making that more likely. The Brora chairman just wants promotion, the rest of the letter is just shmoozing to promote the plan.

Scottish clubs have grumps at travelling to Elgin, Peterhead, Dingwall, and they even moan at travelling to Inverness . pretty certain they would be screaming at the thought of travelling to Brora. Rangers proposal is pure S***e, Hearts proposals are just laughable. Well said the Elgin Chairman, I applaud you for having the guts to come and say it’s P**h. If Rangers or Celtic Colts are just fast tracked into the league, same goes for Kelty & Brora, I will spend my Saturday afternoons Hill walking. Absolutely no time for queue jumpers. I have a suggestion, why not let Inverness Clach in? much bigger club than Brora. Think there was a club from East Lothian , Borders area that wanted into the league, What about them?

Are the Danish and Finnish leagues are less successful than the Scottish Premiership? Denmark and Finland, with similar populations to Scotland, are reasonable countries for comparison. Compared to Denmark, we're diddies.

Scotland is 50th and Finland is 58th. Compared to Denmark, we're diddies. It’s a difficult one, how do you define a successful league? If you define success by how we do compared to the size of the country then Scotland generally does fairly well. Denmark is demographically similar to Scotland, undoubtedly the strongest Scandinavian league and has 14 teams domestically. There’s not much point comparing to the ‘top five’ leagues as they’re from nations which have 8-10x the population of Scotland so can obviously support a higher number of professional teams. If we base ‘success’ off the UEFA country coefficient rankings then out of the teams above Scotland (currently ranked 14th) then only the Ukrainian, Austrian (12 teams) and Danish (14 teams) have under 16 teams in their leagues. Scotland has the smallest population out of the top 14 nations with only Denmark directly comparable (5-6m) with countries of relatively comparable populations such as Austria (9m), Portugal (10m) or Belgium (11m) still have roughly double the number of people in Scotland. Indeed Cyprus, with a smaller population than Scotland, is ranked 16th by UEFA and has 10 teams in its domestic league. If you look at countries of a similar profile to Scotland who have been recently successful (in terms of reaching WC/Euro’s etc.) then again there isn’t a great deal of evidence bigger leagues help. Croatia, admittedly benefitting from a substantial spread of eligible players, has 12 teams in its league. Switzerland has 10 teams in its domestic top flight. Serbia, Sweden and the Czech Republic all have 16 teams, but also slightly larger populations and I don’t think many would argue their leagues are stronger than Scotland. In short, out of comparable European nations demographically there isn’t a great deal of rough evidence increasing the number of teams would bring an improvement in the league. The ‘better leagues’, or at least comparable leagues according to UEFA are all from nations with larger populations or have a similar number of teams in their league to Scotland.

Insaintee
2 hours ago, Merkincher Clach & County said: No desire to see Hearts rot, however they have to accept relegation, how many attempts is Budge going to have at “New Proposals” the same goes for Rangers, their Colt idea is for their benefit, not for the good of Scottish football. what gives any club the right to think they can just jump into the leagues? there are many clubs who would like to get into the Scottish leagues. Inverness & Ross County tried for years to get into the Scottish league. What gives Kelty Hearts & Brora Rangers the right to think they can just jump in? their right of entry was through a play off. Repeat! There are many clubs who would like entry. Every proposal so far is simply to accommodate Hearts, Partick Thistle, who have both been stinking through the season, hence the reason they are where they are. As for Rangers, they just can’t accept the fact that Celtic are Champions ( deservedly) Time to move on with getting ready for the new or next season. Should clubs want changes, then put proposals forward, and as in the past they can be looked at to take place in a couple of years, not just knee jerk reactions because Hearts are relegated. Bet your bottom dollar if Hearts were not sitting at the bottom none of the Budge proposals would have been put forward or even thought about. Time for clubs to put the toys away. You lost me there

Frank Grimes
Interesting that the “dignified silence” throughout all this Celtic fans were wanking furiously over was actually their club working in cahoots with the Sevco all this time, trying to shoehorn their reserves into the set up Sare yin Imagine they’ll be a bit of Ostrich heid about it Rivals

Denmark and Finland have historically had a particularly high top rate of income Tax which means that their European competitors are at a financial disadvantage relative to ours.
