Ron Aldo
Not sure if the standard is very good or very bad this season. A top 4 place could be there for the taking for anyone down to 11th.
Bully Wee Villa
Sounds like we battered them, but were lucky with the Hause non-sending off. We can finish top half. Top six isn't completely impossible. Can't see Allardyce keeping Baggies up. Theym shit.
peasy23
Never saw any games today and watching MotD2, those were two cracking finishes by McTominay.
Bairnardo
Am I missing something? This was given offside based on the wee daft lines with the defender closest to Maddison? Surely Aurier is playing him on? ETA, now I looks again maybe I can see why, but surely that's a perfect illustration of how terrible VAR is Edited December 20, 2020 by Bairnardo

It’s incredible that no one involved in VAR has considered the margin for error in having a human being trying to guess the precise moment the ball is played.

Pre VAR, they play multiple replays of that and not one single pundit or viewer says its offside. Guaranteed.

The pundits have largely stopped criticizing it and pouring over each decision it gets wrong. It’s terrible but they won’t get rid of it.

Guaranteed. Yep. I've felt for a while that VAR should be used for offsides, but take away the lines and just let the VAR official just say if he thinks it's offside or not after a couple of replays.

The point however stands that they could be 2 points behind Liverpool if they win their game in hand, when they're apparently complete shite. Go figure. That's the as it stands table. Stupid way of doing it.
TheScarf
It happens in leagues all the time, some team is Barcelona 2010 and a team who are 'in crisis' and about to free fall to the Vauxhall Conference are a point behind them.
RossBFaeDundee
Jesus, some real Scott Steiner-levels of stats use by Mikel Arteta today.

Where has he picked up those percentages from? I'd really like to know that. That sort of ranting and raving is right up there with McGhee saying "Go and look me up on Wikipedia. I've got a track record".

Diamonds are Forever
The basis for Arteta's assertions that they should have won some of these games appears to be based on possession and territory. I thought the obsession with possession peaked about 7-8 yesrs ago where people seemed to think that if you had as much possession as Barcelona then you would win the game, or at least 'deserved' to. In recent years it's become increasingly clear (although it always has really) that being productive in possession is all that matters and that just having possession alone means nothing. When Bayern beat Barca 8-2 a few months back they had less possession than Barcelona, yet it was the most dominant display I can remember seeing at that level. Arsenal are creating absolutely nothing and it's clear that teams are happy for them to have as much of the ball as they want knowing that they'll get a chance on the counter or from a set piece. I'd be really worried if I was an Arsenal fan at the moment, Arsenal are absolutely where they deserve to be. It's strange because when he first came in he won a few big games by playing defensive, organised football and being happy to give up possession, so he clearly knows it's not about possession and has shown a willingness to adapt. At the moment though it looks like he has just decided he wants them to play a certain way but they just don't have the quality to be able to do it.

Tbf Bayern were lucky that night, seven of their goals had a wee bit of good fortune to them.

peasy23
Burnley 2-0 up against Wolves after 65 minutes, Barnes scored the opener with his first league goal in a year, Wood with the second. Wolves huffing and puffing.
peasy23
Wolves get a goal back through a late penalty but Burnley hold on for the win. Looked much more like the Burnley we've been used to, whether you think that is a good or bad thing is a different matter.
