Ludo*1
Leeds having a wee jab at this horrific take: Concerning that a significant amount of football pundits and journalists are viewing it as sexism. Pundits seem to feel that their views should be above criticism. That's quite clearly a shit take and Leeds have poked a wee bit of fun at it. The amount of people that are turning it into a gender issue online is concerning.
accies1874
I don't think it's a terrible point tbf, although I know nothing about how fitness works. Bielsa's teams supposedly run out of steam but he won the league in the season his team got an unprecedented break. Folk can say that everyone else got one too, but Leeds were clearly the best team in the Championship and the big thing stopping them from winning the league was largely negated by Covid. Obviously they didn't only win the league because of it though.
Ludo*1
Before lockdown kicked in, Leeds were on a run of 5 wins on the bounce heading into the final 9 games of the season. They won the league by 10 points and were automatically promoted by 12. To say that they wouldn't have achieved this without the lockdown break is just lazy journalism based on previous assertions that Bielsa's teams tire out. They simply didn't look like doing so before lockdown.
accies1874
I don't know if it's sexist - it probably depends on whether they've called out anyone else for bad Leeds takes - but tweets like theirs will inevitably mobilise the [emoji636][emoji1022] faction of Twitter. -

They'd won five out of six by that stage the season before though, so it's not much of an indication that they wouldn't collapse.

Winning the previous 5 games before lockdown without conceding a single goal flies in the face of, 'they won the league due to covid' and wouldn't have done so without the break which is was the pundit is stating. It's a nonsense and lazy statement from the pundit because last season.
TheScarf
Scottish clubs won their leagues because of Covid. Leeds United won it after finishing top after 46 games.

The amount of people that are turning it into a gender issue online is concerning. That is what happens on social media. Nearly everything is turned into a gender, racial or political issue ect if someone disagrees with something. She is paid to give an opinion, she is clearly wrong (in my opinion also) and she has been called out on it. Goes with the territory.
The Golden God
There’s some amount of rage on twitter about the Leeds tweet, don’t see the issue at all, similar tongue in cheek tweets happen all the time in other sports.
Marshmallo
Leeds did call out Gabriel Agbonlahor earlier in the season, for example, but it's a tricky one. The tweet itself isn't necessarily sexist but I think they need to be a bit more conscious of the reaction/pile on it's going to lead to and the sort of comments that provokes. There is definitely a sexism problem among football fans generally and I think Leeds could have been smarter in the way they went about things. It was a complete nonsense point though and if you are a pundit on that sort of stage then you are going to take flak for stating nonsense points. It's quite insulting to players and staff who got the club promoted. Edited December 30, 2020 by Marshmallo

No doubt there will be the get back in the kitchen remarks ect which are totally sexist and unacceptable.Fans love to see remarks like that pulled up by their club, the da department of every support can cross the line though.
Bully Wee Villa
The media has almost universally been kissing Leeds' arses this season. They're coming across as pretty thin-skinned, crying their eyes out every time someone says anything that is less than adulatory. -
Ira Gaines
Doesn't take much to trigger a Twitter pile on, so whoever is responsible for the Leeds account either 1) should have known better or 2) deliberately wanted this outcome. And given the attitude of a lot of Leeds supporters, none of these would be remotely surprising.

What sort of pundit can’t handle that sort of level of disagreement? It's different when the "level of disagreement" (from a lot of the comments, not Leeds' account) is claiming the only reason you're employed is to tick a box and your entire gender doesn't know about football.
