I've been in the States 8 years, at some point some of the stupid might rub off on me and I'd rather not.

It probably won't. I've been here since 2000 and I've went from center-left to more-left.

The problem with America is the people get spoon fed on how great it all is. But it's really a façade created by the elite 0.01%.

Yeah, I noticed that effect. It's easy to find yourself noticing all the ways that a bit of socialism would be sensible.

The thing that surprised me at the time was that the US seemed ripe for a slide into fascism. All the societal indoctrination was already in place, just waiting to be taken advantage of. Pledging allegiance to pieces of cloth every day, replacing the old Gods with long-dead politicians, and worship of the armed forces. Disturbing.

You got to indoctrinate them young. It's a Christian thing.

Edit: I think my atheism has been the stabilizing factor.

Realising they're no longer useful, but haven't realised they're still idiots.

I mean they could've shut his accounts at any time leading up to and during the presidency for any one of his hundreds (thousands?) of terms of service violations and made an elaborate set of reasons to justify why they didn't. And with the Dems getting in they ken what side their bread is buttered on.

He should go on Parler or whatever the racists use.

They're just joining the rest of the rats jumping from the ship. No different from the rest of the white supremacy enablers.

This has probably been covered but the rioters will likely be prosecuted under laws brought in under EO by Trump during last summers riots.  Ten years for damaging federal property.

I also read an article today about the George Senate election.  The Democrats ran on relative sanity and both their candidates supported the $2,000 stimulus checks that are being veto'd by McConnell.  The Republicans opposed this and ran on the "Stop far Left Communist Joe Biden destroying America, also the voting in this state a month ago was rigged and unfair".  Truly mind blowing that this lead the GOP to lose, who could've predicted this?

Even if it's not an empty threat they will not successfully impeach him. You need 2/3 in the senate - effectively a third of republican senators would need to vote to impeach him, which will not happen. Any republican who breaks with trump is putting a target on their own back, both in terms of a primary challenge as well as in the literal sense that these nutcases might view them as fair game for violence.
Far more likely than either impeachment or the 25th amendment is that the majority of these guys think he's as mad as any of the democrats do, but they'll calculate that the worst is over, there's only two weeks until he's gone anyway, and events would suggest Pence is de facto in charge anyway. They'll consider it far better to keep their heads down and hope nothing else goes badly wrong before the inauguration.
Nope. If the House votes in favour, he is impeached. The Senate is where they try him once impeached. Last year he was impeached ut the Senate effectively found him not guilty.
