Rangers vs Celtic - January 2nd

Recommended Posts

Here's how I seen the game. Wasn't sure how it would go as the 442 diamond was untested against Gerrard's static 433.

Celtic were on top, players wanted it more, passed it better and quicker.

McGregor made a few saves but ultimately it was a 60/40 first half. Rangers were probably happy with that but not the performance. Nothing much changed until the red card. Which was a stick on red, but not nearly as bad a tackle as Duffy's.

Rangers got their luck from the goal and understandably went on to dominate possession but it wasn't a game blessed by quality.

Ajer, frimpong, laxalt and Édouard were good for Celtic.

McGregor was good for Rangers.

No one was better than a 7/10.

Kent continued to be the most overrated player in Scotland. Tavernier continued to defend badly.

For Rangers, no one needed to be good. They just had to not get beat. Mission accomplished.

Lennon embarrassed himself by blaming the ref. It is a red by his own admission, as he did say Morelos would have gone on to have a shot. That's all that matters.

I actually expected him to be humble about it but that's the thing about the old firm, always something to let it down.

Have watched it over about a dozen times and the only way Morelos doesnt get to that ball before the keeper is if the fucking roadrunner comes out of nowhere and wipes Morelos out.
Yer absolutely at it. Red card all day long.
Meep meep.
Nah Willy says he is not in control of the ballScreenshot_20210102-203602_Twitter.jpeg

Get that, but should it be a red?

Yes

The keeper isn’t getting there and Mbappe wouldn’t close the gap Ajer had to close to stop him getting a shot off.

Bitton should have allowed Morelos through and tried to apply as much pressure as possible without fouling him. It’s Morelos after all, he likely would have fucked it but we fucked it for him.

This is on us and us alone

Between 5 seconds and 7 seconds in the clip the ball is closer to the keeper that gives Morelos 2 seconds to get to the ball without Bitton touching him.

He gets taken out after 4 seconds in the clip ya clown 😂😂😂. Hardly suprising the ball gets closer to the keeper a few seconds later.

Disapointing but not overly surprising, kamikaze moments at the back have killed us all season , this game was no different.

This season is definitely gone now, so time to clean house and get a new managerial team and start building towards next season. No point leaving Lenny in to see out this season when he's not going to be here for next, put him out of his misery now.

Yes it’s not mathematically impossible in the same way Rangers weren’t willing to concede a 10 point gap with only 8 to play last season but that’s very unlikely to happen so for us it’s best now to look forward and start ringing the necessary changes to try take it back next season.

Celtic have 19 games left with a possible 10 point gap.

If Morelos gets away from Bitton hes not getting the ball.

Barkas is backing off to his near post and making no movement towards the ball whatsoever so Morelos would have gotten there.

Im not sure why it’s a debate though because if we had scored when we had been so dominant this incident would never have happened.

We should be looking inward at what we didn’t do instead of what has been perceived to be done to us.

It’s a notional 10 point gap, the gap is 19 points as it stands right now.

Only one of us have been right about the direction this season was going, I told you back in September and I also told you that if change didn’t happen we would find ourselves in January in a position where the league is out of our hands and that’s where we are. Even if we win every game it won’t be enough and that is a really really sad and embarrassing position to find ourselves in on the 2nd of Jan.

Celtic fans should be more concerned that their manager is blaming their failings on the referee.

It's a match thread one game,Celtic were the better team but it's all about results this season and the 3 points.
Lennon was right to highlight this decision because it changed the game.

And highlighting the decision does what exactly? Change the outcome? Change the outcome of all the other games we have dropped needless points on?

It does f**k all but deflect from the root problem
