You don’t really know who you are prodding. What joy is missing from your life that antagonising folk for sport os what you chose to do?

I’m sure Marshy is a decent enough person in real life and makes fair points on Falkirk threads etc. I’m a big Fife version of Chris Eubank so not really too perturbed but much but less delicate people must be impacted by being picked on, even if it’s as mins or a thing as a wee dot.

The last time this ‘topic’ came up I tried to make the point that you can’t dictate to others what bothers them and what doesn’t (but some were adamant that, because it didn’t affect them, that anyone who was bothered should pretty much f**k off, on top of various insults to such people). This will almost certainly go the same way, but worth saying it again I think.

 

To most of us the dots don't bother us, but they might annoy someone else. We all have silly little things that bother us that others wouldn’t care about. I’m sure we’re all thinking of our own examples right now. We can tell someone that they shouldn’t be annoyed by a small thing, but that isn’t really effective. There’s a song sang at most football grounds that makes me shake my head and sigh, but it’s just a daft wee harmless song (even though it’s utterly shite!). To most folk, it doesn’t bother them in the slightest. But for me it does elicit a response of exasperation. You can tell me all you want how it’s daft to feel that way, and I might even agree to an extent, but it doesn’t stop me from letting out a deep sigh and rolling my eyes back in to my skull every time I hear it.

 

Trying to repeatedly elicit a negative response is a bit shite I think, and I think that’s exactly what some posters try to do with the red dot stuff. Going through someone’s history to dot shit from years back is absolutely tragic and really is only aimed at doing one thing, especially when you consider that a poster did so to some posts on the depression thread without realising; they were just aimlessly dotting posts to try and irritate someone else.

Naturally I'm so devastated I've asked the school if I can take some time off to cope with this.

I fully agree, you can’t. And yet some people are bothered about the Queen dying and there’s you calling them mental & various other insults. It’s the hypocrisy for me. You’re perfectly happy to abuse others when it suits you. As are plenty of the other folk greeting about dots - and there they are coming out with the constant ‘virgin’ patter etc. As I’ve said before, the best thing to do would be to get rid of the reputation system.

The danger about that is you then have to reply to posts to show your disapproval and this ends up clogging threads with emoji replies and people telling each other to f**k off. 

My three point plan for dealing with the dotageddon.

1 - Anonymise dots

2 - Reintroduce Sin Bin forum for banned posters

3 - Ban everyone who has ever downvoted one of my posts.

Do dots matter any more? Maybe its just my browser, but the reputation score doesnt show any more unless I actually go into peoples profile (inc my own).

I just go on the assumption that as I am "such a gid kunt" everything gets green dotted anyway.
