Online is very much a secondary source of income. Especially for baseball which has a much older audience than other sports. And MLB only started allowing local fans to stream games in 2019 and not every team has streaming available. I read an article around a year ago that suggested the below. Struggling to find it now which is making me question if I was reading about one of the other predominantly North American sports. 9 minutes ago, DiegoDiego said: Until recently MLB had sports' most profitable app.
Rob1885
Chelsea have shat it. I imagine now the whole thing will fall and the champions league reforms will go even a step further as a face saving exercise for all involved.

I think we're going to see a divide now between the owners who own superclubs for sportswashing/influence (PSG, Man City, Chelsea) and those who own superclubs to make money from them (Arsenal, Man Utd, Liverpool, the Italian clubs). The bad PR has likely meant that the sportswashers have concluded that the better move is to withdraw, so I think Man City will likely do the same in the near future. But I think the rest of them are still going to try and make it work. The money is all that matters to them. Forest_Fifer
If Chelsea are bailing, then wouldn't that now give the EPL the 75% needed to expel the ESL teams?

Lofarl
Even if this collapses on its arse tonight. Those 12 teams better not be in any European cup competition next season. Actions need consequences.

San Starko Rover
Fucking hell, you know it’s bad when the mental Russian billionaire / Bond villain is the one concerned about the backlash.I know there’s quotes about them expecting a backlash but I’m not convinced they knew it would be quite as big. Think they perhaps only expected UEFA to be a problem and some fans groups. Seen a few suggest Chelsea and Spurs probably weren’t the driving force behind this but didn’t fancy being left behind so they were probably the most likely to bottle it when the backlash came and threats from all sides.

Fratelli
It is quite satisfying to see these clubs shite themselves a bit and realise that although they've shafted their fans for years, there is a line they can't cross. Although they shouldn't be praised for this, the greedy c***s agreed to it in the first place and their desire to do something like this in the future won't just dissapear.
