HalfCutNinja
Barcelona's socios are demanding a referendum on it. They own the club so they will be out too, only a matter of time. Laporta has attempted to claim Bartomeu signed the agreement. Rats fleeing a sinking ship.

I don't think the claim will be accurate anymore. I remember reading it about twenty years ago. It was when the EPL and the CL were still young. They'd already destructively impacted on the game, but it was before the International TV rights went nuts. It was true then that a single big Tesco store would generate similar turnover to even a big club like Manchester United. It won't be the case now though.

If it all falls apart this early, then they won't. This idea will just come back in 18 months time, except this time the Yanks will know what they're up against. And UEFA's proposal, sadly, isn't much better.
Thistle_do_nicely
wait but haven't loads of senior figures resigned from Uefa over this (that were also in positions at ESL clubs)? take it they're just going to be allowed to reverse it or will they be told to f**k off? Dons_1988
Shitebags. And if the PL just let it be water under the bridge then they’re equally as bad.

Detournement
Barca fans won't like Florentino being vocal about this. I'll actually be a wee bit disappointed if this is called off before an army of Scousers get the chance to descend on Anfield. Barcelona is always good for a riot as well and Lazio and Napoli fans were probably buying new weapons especially for their next game vs Juve.

The 6 English sides will all have an additional foot-up of at least £200m to spend per season on every other club in the league and there's nothing the others can do about it whatsoever. So barring a colossal f**k-up, in addition to their guaranteed revenue, they will also hoover up all the cash from the top 6 league positions every single season without fail. It basically nullifies any threat of a team like Leicester, Wolves or West Ham ever so much as entertaining the notion of breaking them up again. A bit like what the Champions' League has done to our game.

jamamafegan
The PL need to hammer the 6 for this treachery. They have to dock points. Forget fines, that’s not going to hurt them. 15 points deduction minimum to ensure it never happens again.

"We'll just create a new Man City". Wow, the arrogance is astonishing, though a cheeky element of truth in it.
