Spotted this on BBC. From (very vague) memory Celtic played Spurs in a friendly late 60s

Jimmy Greaves

Queen's Park centenary match at Hampden on Saturday 5th August 1967. Queen's Park themselves played Great Britain Olympic team the night before.

Match finished 3-3 with Greaves scoring a brace.

Attendance was 91,708. It was Celtic's first match in Scotland since winning the European Cup (they had played away to Real Madrid in de Stefano's testimonial).

It effectively replaced the Glasgow Charity Cup match which had been played between the Glasgow Select and a top English club at the start of each August upto and including 1966.

"Up there in chilly jocko land"

"Ha ha ha yer a terrible man Greavsie"

Memories flooding back with just one post.

Maybe because I was young at the time, but I did quite enjoy their show, and I vaguely remember some decent sections when the World Cup qualifiers were on and folk were otherwise reliant on buying World Soccer to find out what was going on outside of Europe. They must have had some good staff working behind the scenes.

Goalkeeping was atrocious.

there was a few mistakes there, but its still riles me when i see old keepers get shat on, especially keepers in the Barclays, like Schmeichel & Seaman being looked on as inferior to Ederson & Allison or whoever is the flavour of the month.

I wasn't insinuating they were any worse than today's keepers, anybody can have an off day. And anyway, the mistakes cancelled each other out.

Was it Hamilton Accies that Greavsie used to have a thing for?

Think it was their first season in the Premier League about 1986 and Greavsie was supporting them because they were absolute gash. I think he went a bit mental when they beat Rangers in the Scottish Cup when Souness was there.

I'm a bit young to remember the whole thing with him and Accies but from what I gather it did start as a bit of a joke because we were shite but I think in the end he did have a genuine affection for the team

Some suggestion from a few seconds Googling that he may have chosen Accies as they're rivals of Motherwell who Ian St John played for.

Also suggested that he was reading "You'll Never Walk Alone" on the gates at Anfield and joked "unless you play for Hamilton Accies", the club saw the clip and invited him (and ISJ) to a game and he was made to feel so welcome he developed a soft spot for them.
