Always like to add a bit of pepper to it as well. Agreed that the powdered Bovril tastes better. I like the stuff you get in the jar but sometimes the bottom of the drink makes me retch a bit.

Annoying how much trickier it is to obtain the powdered version because, as you say, it is much nicer.
KnightswoodBear
A cup of scalding hot beef juice seasoned with lots of pepper at the football on a freezing cold day is magnificent.

scottsdad
I have an unopened jar of Morrisons Beefy Drink sitting in the cupboard. Clearly the instructions to the wife went astray somewhere when she went shopping. I'm not touching that!
Scary Bear
I’m not sure. At Starks Park on a cold winters day I occasionally drink what tastes like an oxo cube in hot water. It purports to be a Bovril. Would I drink it out with this setting? No.
Sherrif John Bunnell
I haven't had a Bovril in ages, but this thread and the utterly Baltic weather inspired me to pick up a 9 pack of Bovril cups from Poundland today. I'm looking forward to a hot beef injection before going to bed later.
Distant Doonhamer
I know a vegetarian who drinks Bovril !!!Probably termed a partial vegetarian. Drinks Bovril but is really smug about it.
welshbairn
The Vegemite that Aussies buy is probably indistinguishable from Bovril.

Vegemite is shite, it smells shite, it tastes shite and is a different consistency to Bovril, even the “suitable for vegetarians” imported version sold here. In fact Vegemite is not just shite it is utter fucking shite!
Hedgecutter
The stuff made from dry granules is absolutely marvellous. However, the stuff made from the syrupy gunk straight from the glass jar is boggin'. I'll always ask which it is before buying at half time, unless you're being served by a teenager, in which case they don't know care and life suddenly becomes a lottery. Far superior to the jar version.
Karpaty Lviv
Haven’t had one since before Covid, we are playing Cove Rangers away tomorrow so will need one to prevent me from freezing to death. It’s class.
D Angelo Barksdale
I love a big portion of hot, salty, beefy goodness. Bovril is such a manly, masculine drink. I'll often have one to balance my equilibrium after moisturising or a pedicure.

energyzone
I've only ever had it at the football, like a lot of people I imagine, but I love it on a cold day at a match. I don't know if it would quite be the same at home.
Honest_Man#1
Add me to the ‘liquid in jar is disgusting, powder form from Poundland is nectar of the gods’ group please. Not had a bovril in a long time actually, need to fix that.
