Children's author criticises use of trans pronouns in legal proceedings in animal cruelty case making the papers is a bit odd but the strangest thing about this strange  headline is what it misses out

In the body of the article

I thought by transgender cat killer they meant a cat which had changed genders and gone on to murder*.

Yet another day I mourn the confusion caused by the absence of hyphenation in modern English.

*which could be the plot of one of Stephen King's worse novels.

Hyphenation hasn’t completely gone. It’s on its last legs though, just as z hasn’t completely replaced s. As in normalis(z)e or indeed hyphonis(z)e. The time of no hyphens and z in place of s is fast approaching though .

I've seen middle-class journalist parents complaining about Peppa Pig before. It was Horrid Henry before that. No doubt there was another children's book/TV character before that; I do remember folk trying to claim that Tom & Jerry were responsible for kids attacking each other with hammers (or some such nonsense).

They're all desperate for something cultural other than themselves to blame for little Jaiydden and Ohlivya's behaviour. Presumably the journos are all such a bunch of c***s because of the shite they consume between writing crap like this.

It sets a poor example, and can be very confusing for children. I mean why is the fucking hamster bigger than the fucking elephants?

They’re elephant children.

Dr Elephant is bigger. Although he is the same size as Miss Hamster and Madame Gazelle so it doesn’t help much.

Firstly, why is it on Edinburgh Live when there's zero connection to Edinburgh?

Secondly, she's absolutely at it when she mentions avocados from Waitrose. Surely she knows how that comes across. Satire wouldn't get away with an example so cliched. You can't mention that in one sentence, and talk about lighting candles in another. Candles are more expensive than light bulbs anyway. At it.

There's probably a valid point in there somewhere, but when you dress it up like that you're just inviting ridicule and disdain.

Call the Social Work and have her children removed. Not having a National Trust membership is the equivalent of handing your kids in to the local witches coven.

Definitely giving off posh Mum vibes.

She can stay down south, there's already enough c**** swanning about in Sheffield who work from home 3 days a week and in the office in London the other 2. London weighted wages driving up house prices.

Yea, kinda the same.

"Last year, there was a band that I love, and that my partner and my son love, but to go and see them, tickets were £80. We didn't go."

This does ring true, can't mind how/when it started exactly (ticketmaster? metallica jacking up prices and other acts following suit?) but I had a quick look online and its full of pish like this:

£100+ to see John Mayer, whoever that is.

£42.50+ to see The Gaslight Anthem, whoever they are.

So do I - she's either an entitled snob, or a fictional entity created for the purposes of satire.

She added: "Those that are wealthy remain very wealthy, those that are on lower incomes have access to benefits, but it's always been the people in the middle who are stuck."

They could quit their jobs and get something minimum wage if they're genuinely thick enough to believe Universal Credit will make them better off. Life would be so much easier too, considering she works "really, really hard" and clearly thinks people on lower wages don't. Might struggle to claim though, considering they'd need to have less than £16,000 in the bank to be eligible, but they obviously won't because they're so hard up. Right?

Also, working 50+ hours per week and earning £22,000pa as a self-employed childminder? Get your CV in at McDonalds hen - literally everyone pays better than that.
