Jason Cummings, baffles me how he got 2 Scotland caps

Calum Macgregor

John Mcginn (when at Hibs) happy to admit he’s proven me wrong and probably one of our best players

Ryan Porteous

Emilio Izaguirre

Was there hype about izzaguire? Just a decent full back IMO.

Izzy was doing very well even linked to Man U  at one point but was never the same player when he came back from his leg break which was about a year in to his time at Celtic iirc. Probably why he stayed at Celtic  so long as he seemed to have lost a bit of pace and much more hesitant on the ball. For me though he was always technically a bit limited but many modern day full backs often are now.

Dead ball specialist that worked hard to get as good as he did. Something a hell of a lot of players up here could learn from, never ceases to amaze me how many players are shite at set pieces, surely ones with even a limited talent could improve with a few extra hours on their own time practicing them. It would pay off long term.

Or they could be home by 1pm and be on COD by quarter past.

yet was one of the 1st names on the teamsheet for the arguably the 2nd best club team in Europe between 2007/08 to 2010/11

Dalglish used to get the same things said about him, maybe they were both just used to playing with quality players on a weekly basis and it was the scotland's other players that were ''fuckin crap'' ?

He was fuckin' crap for Scotland.  What's the point in playing players consistently crap because he's good at club level?  It's like consisting of a player your club signed because he was great elsewhere.

and if that happen they'd be thousands of fans who have an interest in Scotland asking why one of the usual starters for the 2nd best team in Europe doesnt get picked for Scotland ?

Like Scott Brown, Kenny Miller, Derek Riordan, Steven Fletcher, Steven Whittaker, Garry Occonnor, Kevin Thomson, Jason Cummings, David Wotherspoon, Paul Hanlon and Lewis Stevenson?

apart from the 1st two, yes, exactly like that.

absolute quality but placed in a higher tier than he deserves by the youtube generation, Michael Laudrup was a far better player.

That’s a dreadful take.

Just about every ex pro of that generation say he’s the best they played with or against. Don’t think they were watching YouTube.

Christ, if we arent restricting this to Scottish football, I'll have (in no particular order):

Gigi Buffon - great player in his day but has been bang average for the past 10 years or so
Petr Cech - again, very good, but his Chelsea record was more down to an fantastic defence rather than him being particularly fantastic. Also, shite bunnet.
Eden Hazard - even at Chelsea there was something off about him, never quite got "it" with him the way I do with someone like Mo Salah.
Sergio Ramos - great in the air and fantastic pace in recovery, but f**k me the number of times he gets caught out of position - Maldini he aint
Franck Ribery - didnt watch him all that much in his prime, but never seemed particularly good any time I did watch him. Very "meh".

Paul Scholes has been over-hyped since his retirement. He was always an excellent footballer, but after he retired it became stylish for people to claim he was one of the best ever.

Sure, he contributed massively to Man Utd's dominance and success in a team, but as an individual, I don't think he was anywhere near the elite. Lampard and Gerrard were both way ahead of him.
