Deanburn Dave
Looked a certain 2nd goal for Gretna but they mucked it up. Now 4-1.....Tom Grant shot from 20 yards.

ekok
Aye not bad for a tinpot League. Keep hearing about how loads of teams in Tier 6 are so much better than teams in Lowlandat in tier 5. Can make the same argument up the way to Tier 4.
Deanburn Dave
Keir McCauley my MOTM. Great contest between him and the Gretna winger with Keir the winner. Locke and Stevenson were also very good today.
karate kid
Good to see Keir back in the team, always like to see a natural left footer in that position, Ryan was excellent today, offers such alot going forward, rush of blood towards the end and will be a miss...But Locke being an attacking midfielder and in contention for motm says alot. Deanburn Dave
Ryan's red card was a bad decision from the referee. 90th minute and Ryan sticks out a tired leg in the midfield when we are 4-1 up. For the referee to consider it "serious foul play" was ridiculous. Think he will miss the next two Lowland League games.

Don't think a competitive title race says anything about a league's overall quality. Just says that this season is a window of opportunity for some relatively small clubs to try to reach the SPFL with nobody spending Kelty levels of money and no sign of a former SPFL club doing much this time around now the Shire appear to have lost their sugar daddy. Posted that comment more because it's unfortunate given that backdrop that the BUs threw away a couple of games that were very winnable in recent weeks because even at this stage 8 points would be a lot to claw back. Next season could be more challenging. If Brechin City beat Bonnyrigg Rose (think they had to spend so heavily on their ground that they stuck with the same team more than they should have) in the Club 42 playoff and Darvel or Lithgae Rose move up that would probably see off both Dalbeattie Star and Edinburgh Uni by this time next year with all of this year's title chasers still around. At that point on current form two former SPFL clubs would be in the relegation zone. Even with one automatic promotion place from tier 6, it's only a matter of time until the league gets to where it should be in other words and to the point where it can be retrofitted to be more like what a junior "superduperleague" might have wound up being like with club licensing. Hopefully Bo'ness United will have its act together sufficiently to be part of that and possibly even crack on to the SPFL at some point. Ten years down the road the LL is going to be a very strong division and I honestly think that none of the current LL clubs will be able to be 100% confident at that point about being permanent fixtures at this or a higher level.

Good post , agree that lowland league will get better and better with it be a very competitive league . In fact it’s pretty competitive just now at the top . Having a look at it , if BU had have beaten just Gala and Broomhill , they would have been right in the mix .Both games we gifted to the opposition . A good run could even put us back up there but have serious doubts In us doing that . That requires a settled team in my view .

Have Civil Service gained a sugar daddy? Poor crowds last season playing at a glorified public park in front of three fans but this season there seems to be a massive change in their form and results. LongTimeLurker
Don't think so on the CSS sugar daddy angle but happy to be corrected on that if anybody knows better. It appears to mainly be down to Gary Jardine doing a good job on building a team.

Keep hearing about how loads of teams in Tier 6 are so much better than teams in Lowlandat in tier 5. Can make the same argument up the way to Tier 4. A league being "tinpot" usually means it's badly run, not that there is no quality. There is no denying that the LL is horribly run and a stain on Scottish football. There is no denying that the B-teams devalue the league and that the LL massively disrespects their 3 feeder leagues. And it's pretty obvious that if the bottom teams get replaced by the best teams in the East / West, the league's quality will improve. I love non-league football and the LL has got great potential. That's why I feel so strongly about it. This league can be fixed, go to (at least) 2 auto-relegation spots & an 18 team league with the B-teams being kicked out and the league being filled up by tier 6 sides. That would make the league so much more attractive. Yes, there should be more promotion/relegation with the SPFL too, but these are separate discussions and that not happening is no excuse not to do what I suggested here.

Poor side last season 7th 4 places and 11 points in front of yous. Glorified public park in front of 3 fans Edit: football is won on the park no its surroundings. They're just another well run club who've got stronger on the pitch as the pyramid progresses. Edited October 30, 2022 by newcastle broon

Your disrespect shown to other teams does you no favours, it’s not as if you are in a position to do so at this moment. CSS are one of the best run clubs in the league.
