2022-23 East Of Scotland (Qualifying) Cup

Recommended Posts

The draw for the first two rounds has been posted. This cup is for all members of the East of Scotland FA outwith the SPFL. This includes all members of the East of Scotland Football League plus former league members who currently play in the Lowland League but have maintained their membership. It is expected that the champion will qualify for the East of Scotland Cup along with three EoSFA members competing in the SPFL (Bonnyrigg Rose Athletic, Edinburgh City, and Kelty Hearts)

Kinnoull v Gala re-enacts last season's SF while Preston v Musselburgh excites.

I heard it was some game at Old Shielfield tonight:

Tweedmouth 4 Edinburgh South 5

Defences on top ..

Picked this game for a visit. All the goals scored shooting downhill. 4 for Tweedmouth in first half and 5 for Edinburgh South in the second.

Oh and a couple of reds as well as some eccentric decision making from the ref. Great entertainment!

Good result for Armadale against Leith. Wonder why Gretna v Dunbar was postponed?

Probably because of the totally unreasonable travelling time for a midweek game.  2.5 hours according to Google, and I thought sending Whitburn to Hawick in October midweek was bad.

Hawick midweek is hardly an issue, we had it in one of our first ever Senior games. They have lights you know.....

Edinburgh City played Dalbeattie away on a Thursday once.

City's looney Brazilian was so annoyed he assaulted the ref and got a night in Dumfries Police Station and a court case for it. Perhaps it's just as well Dunbar's game went off.

Saw something on another club page crying about playing an away game around 40 miles away on a weekday night. "EoS shambles", "wouldn't happen under the juniors", "players working",  and my favourite "we would've took a bus on a Saturday" (lol), etc.

True, if it was the Juniors, it would've been a 1830 ko not 1930. Even if the home club had lights, they wouldn't be allowed to use them!

Some people have short memories...

Seems that the costly installation of floodlights is just to enhance the grounds, and help get a licence. Would have thought it would be great to have midweek games under the lights - but even the spfl aren't that interested. PS how far is too far to travel ? 1-2 hours seems ok to me. Some cracking games so far, when are the next rounds scheduled ?

They could have kicked off earlier and wouldn't have needed the lights.

Exactly. But it was really good of them to test the lights 6 days before they were needed. You could install a complete system that time. How long would it take to fix them eh???
