Third Divison 22/23

Recommended Posts

AFAIK

It is 3 UP from all Divisions apart from the Premier Division.
That is set in stone.
Relegation will be the amount of teams required to bring all Divisions to 16 teams apart from Division 4.
If there is no loss or gain at the top of the Premier Division (no team up to LL, no team down from LL) it will be 3 down from Premier to First, 3 down from First to Second, 3 down from Second to Third, 6 down from third to Fourth
If there is a net gain of 1 club from the LL it will be 4 down from Premier to First, 4 down from First to Second, 4 down from Second to Third, 7 down from third to Fourth
If there is a net gain of 2 clubs from the LL it will be 5 down from Premier to First, 5 down from First to Second, 5 down from Second to Third, 8 down from third to Fourth
If there is a net loss of 1 club to the LL it will be 2 down from Premier to First, 2 down from First to Second, 2 down from Second to Third, 5 down from third to Fourth.

This is correct.

Meant to say it came from Kenny.

I don't mind being corrected if I'm wrong right enough but trying to work it all out which can be a quagmire and changeable but unless something miraculous happens then nothing much will change as in there won't be any teams relegated from the Lowland League into the WOSFL
Division 3 will have the 5 teams relegated and not anymore because of this.  Only team that I can see possible going to the WOSFL is Cumbernauld Colts, the rest will either be to the EOSFL or the SOSFL.  Think there are only 4 teams from the Lowland league who would be eligible in regards to location to play in the WOSFL, East Kilbride, Open Goal Broomhill, Caledonian Braves and Cumbernauld Colts.  Only real debate will be if the WOSFL lose their champions to the Lowland league if they win the playoff

You can see as in the current Lowland league table as at 12/01

1 The Spartans 24 15 4 5 50 26 +24 49 Qualification for the Pyramid play-off
2 Celtic B 22 15 3 4 68 29 +39 48 Ineligible for promotion or relegation
3 Rangers B 23 15 3 5 66 39 +27 48
4 University of Stirling 23 15 3 5 55 28 +27 48
5 Tranent Juniors 24 14 6 4 52 25 +27 48
6 East Kilbride 24 13 4 7 53 35 +18 43
7 Open Goal Broomhill 24 12 3 9 48 47 +1 39
8 Civil Service Strollers 24 11 5 8 44 35 +9 38
9 Bo'ness United 24 11 4 9 50 32 +18 37
10 Caledonian Braves 24 10 6 8 62 45 +17 36
11 Berwick Rangers 23 10 3 10 33 40 −7 33
12 Gala Fairydean Rovers 24 10 3 11 42 53 −11 33
13 Heart of Midlothian B 22 7 6 9 49 39 +10 27 Ineligible for promotion or relegation
14 Cumbernauld Colts 22 8 1 13 41 43 −2 25
15 Gretna 2008 22 7 1 14 31 54 −23 22
16 East Stirlingshire 25 4 8 13 25 54 −29 20
17 Cowdenbeath 22 5 4 13 25 32 −7 19
18 Edinburgh University 23 2 1 20 18 91 −73 7 Possible relegation to Tier 6[a]

Lanark went about their business well today in appalling conditions. We quite literally should have scored 10 today against the poorest team we have played this season.

Never saw us losing a goal either - down to a daft penalty.

Dairy v Lanark switched to tomorrow night at 7.30pm at Cumnock 😒

Only chance of getting the game on as Merksworth is an absolute shambles. The news hasn't gone down great in Dalry either - A 40-50 minute drive for us and it's looking like our home games will be there for the next couple of months.

A right shame to have to drive all that way to play on a council astro. Merksworth seems to have had problems forever. Remember a while back when Dalry had a good run in the Scottish and the match was postponed week after week. Has any investment been made in the pitch over the years or is it down to geography/geology?

A shame indeed! Significant amount of investment has been put into trying to fix the problem but I've been told all the problems stem from the drainage and the burn 20 yards away from the pitch - I'm also led to believe Merksworth is one of the lowest points in Dalry if not the lowest!

Pity as Dalry brought a right good crowd to Ardrossan last Friday night - was happy to catch up with some old pals despite the result....but aye in all my 25 years supporting the Winton, Merksworth lets say, hasn't been the most reliable - but it occasionally does surprise you.....

I'm assuming Bonnyton (or Largs on a Saturday) as been looked at as an option? Both were unavailable on Friday/Saturday though.

Bellshill Athletic 1 Gow 6

3-1 at half time. Should've been 5 or 6.

Hill had two men sent off in second half.

A comedy own goal, a keeper howler and a fine finish by Jay made it six .

Could have been double figures was it not for some poor finishing from Gow.

Expected it to be a much tougher tussle pre match.

Lanark 3 VoL 1

Our visitors created 4 presentable chances in the first 10 minutes due to our sloppy defensive work before we missed 2 sitters and a penalty, however we went in at ht comfortably 2-0 up, the first through a defensive howler. We increased our lead in 2nd half but were never truly comfortable, despite playing the better football, Vale squandering decent chances and always dangerous at corners.

The good news is we are creating lots of chances. We need to convert more than we are and our 2 first choice CB's will be available for selection from next week, I believe.
