The Queen of the South thread

Recommended Posts

We're currently two players down from where we were at the beginning of January, with three of the players who left very good players for us. And our squad was one of the smallest in the Championship. If we are thinking of signing new recruits (hopefully we are) we've only three days left to do so and it hardly gives the new players much time to train and get to know the current squad. After last weekend we really need three points on Saturday.

The lad merely said can't recall in same window, unsure if he meant internationally or domestically. Hopefully at least one of them it applies to and we're dandy.

I'm not aware of any such rule domestically, though there did used to be a rule that all loans had to last a minimum of 28 days before they could be cancelled. Not sure if that still exists. It would largely amount to the same thing, though in theory a loan in the 1st 3 days of January could be cancelled on 31st. If it does still exist then Ross Stewart couldn't be fully recalled until February.
However, the SPFL does allow 7 day emergency loans for goalkeepers in cases of injury without requiring an actual transfer of registration. This rule can also be applied to loan players so you could recall a goalkeeper you have out on loan for 7 days if you required. We used the same rule a couple of years ago to recall Ryan Gibson to sit on the bench for a game when Alan Martin was injured.
Don't know if there may be rule preventing the international recall of loans in the same window re Huddersfield though if that's what you meant?

Was on the bench tonight for Falkirk I see.

That doesn't seem likely then.

Getting close to the end of the window, would be good if we could get a couple in.

How come the teenage kids from Livi and Motherwell can play for our first X1 and none of ours can?

Ross Stewart is hardly a kid, he’s 25 in April. As for Devine, his quick rise from Motherwell youth to training with the first team and playing regularly for the reserves must have caught a few eyes.

Think he is meaning Jack Hamilton from Livi.
