Bit of self promotion/ego boosting/whatever but I did an interview with Allan McNish for the Standard this weekend and asked him about Queens - can be found towards the end of this: http://www.dgstandard.co.uk/dumfries-sport/dumfriesshire-sport/2013/01/18/mcnish-aims-to-bag-elusive-daytona-title-51311-32630162/

I went through school with him. Wasn't much of a football fan as I recall, although he did play at Primary. I think he was one of those half-interested Celtic fans the school seemed to specialise in.

These days he looks out for the Queens results - his stag do involved a trip to Palmerston and there was a good interview with him on the Queens website a few weeks back.

He's clearly seen the light and I would encourage others to make the switch too.

Couple of things,

Heard colleagues at work saying Gavin Reilly is leaving at the end of the season and going to universiity. Hope this isn't true but I can understand that there are other things outside of football.

Read in the daily rag that Ian "Lovejoy" McShane is having a scan on a troublesome hip injury. That explains why the lad has not featured much this season. From what I've seen of him I think he is another good young prospect. He could easily play in alongside either Young or McKenna and would therefore allow Mitchell to play in his more suited fullback position. Hope he's back playing soon.

That would be very disappointing (from a QoS perspective) especially as he'd probably sign part-time for a club near to whatever university he goes to. But you can't have a go at the lad for planning for his future, good luck to him.

It sounds a little unlikely to be honest. If he was anywhere Central Belt, he'd be handier for Queens than being locally based. I know that full-time training might not be entirely compatible with full-time studies, but he'd hardly be the first to attempt a combination.

I also think he'd be ill-advised to take a backwards step in his football at this stage. His star has maybe faded a little just of late, but he's still one of the young propsects that could potentially move to a bigger club at a higher level.

If he can't do both just now, he can go to University in his thirties - he can't just become a footballer later on.

Don't worry about the "Reilly to University" rumour, apparently the course he applied for only has one space available on it and Nicky Clark has applied as well. Unfortunately for Reilly, Sandy Clark is good friends with the person in charge of University entrants. Unlucky Gavin.

Seemingly a scholarship at Stirling Uni, not the type of thing to turn down.

Not a daft shout, Pressley likes blooding young boys, I believe 3 of 4 defenders against Morton were under 20. By all accounts they done very well. 'We know our Manners' www.scottishvauxhall.com/new-vans

BEASTwatch for this pish, what's with the advert after every post.

Needs to get back to full fitness, he was starting earlier on in the year playing well again, then he got injured again and the squad has been playing too well for him to get back in. Against Stenny he was making simple mistakes and got hooked off in the first half. That cruciate ligament injury against Stirling 3 years ago is probably one of the most saddened i've been about a player getting injured. He was amazing in those 2 games. I hope he can turn it around at Annan.
