The General Ross County Chat Thread

Dundee Utd confirmed they won't be offering Gardyne a contract, their loss is - hopefully - our gain.

Would have him at dens. Creative and pacy. His Mrs and him are obviously from Dundee and settled with their baby here and family close by.

Defo worth an offer

Yep, and Hartley was here recently, midweek game v SJ iirc.

Really hope we keep him but would understand if he preferred to stay in Dundee.

The only solace I can offer you is that when Dundee don't have a game , but someone else does, Hartley is usually there.

It's a shitey cliché but the boy is never off the clock. Point being he may not have been looking at anyone in particular.

Pretty sure from what I'd heard that the move back to Dundee hadn't been all the Gardyne's had thought it would be, and they were fairly keen on moving back up north again. This was the version I had before he came back on loan. Don't think relocating is a problem.

That makes me feel significantly better.

Pretty sure I went to school with, live close to and socialise with the Gardynes.

They do love it just as much up north to be fair! More just convenient to stay here than permanently move what with extended family here etc.

As sad as I would be to see Gardyne leave, you just know he'll turn to shite again elsewhere! Gardyne + County Shirt = Legend. Gardyne + Any Other Shirt = meh.

If Gardyne goes down, would he ever come back up again?

I've been in the "Gardyne in a County shirt just seems to work (and him playing elsewhere doesn't)" camp for a good while, but I wonder how much this factors into players' decision making, when compared with things like more money, closeness to home, playing (and hopefully 'making it') for a bigger team etc. if he were to move on again, I really hope he would succeed, and I have doubts about how long we could continue bringing him back in cases where it wasn't working out with a new club.

It would be a great shame for a player who has contributed so much, to have his career fizzle into mediocrity before his time.

All the best Michael, wherever you end up next season.
