Video interview with US journalist Ryan Grim. He gives his opinion on Vance, Project 2025, Trump's scope for power consolidation if elected, and efforts to replace Biden.

Interesting but nothing new or particularly insightful.

Owen Jones really needs to stop fidgeting.

Schiff becomes the most high profile elected Dem to openly call for Biden to step down.

As soon as they use phrases like "whether he can beat Trump" they're as well as beat. Trump can use any replacement as a "they know they can't beat me so they had to change the rules" type stuff and he'd have a point.

The attempted assassination has been an absolute gift which has negated and reduced all the attacks and court cases against him, anti Trump vitriolic and at times hysterical  criticism against him has been disabled meanwhile.

The TRUMP support though are on a roll with stories of Secret Service being involved in the assassination attempt by deliberately ignoring Crooks presence on the roof.

Forget Biden the Democrats could run Jesus as their candidate and still lose.

Running a candidate with a Mexican name would be a disaster.

Hilarious stuff from Kari Lake

Kari Lake questioning another person’s mental health.  Doesn’t get much better.

There are cleverish MAGA types then there’s the ones who can only spout the ‘fake news’ pish ad nauseam because they are really not very bright.

Just watched Vance's film Hillbilly Elegy.

The following are observations about him gleaned from the film and are irrespective of his unorthodox and/or very conservative political views:

There's no question that the guy has done exceptionally well given his circumstances, i.e. working class background, drug-addicted mother & single-parent family. I'm unsure whether he will have benefited from affirmative action to get into Yale based on his social-economic circumstances, though, or whether he got there entirely on merit. However, assuming the film's accurate it would seem he worked hard to finance his education, and of course he'd already served in the US Marines. Having a best selling book published and having a film produced also indicates ability, IMHO.

I think Americans especially like people like him, because he's the embodiment of the American Dream - 'pulling himself up by his bootstraps', etc. He will also have no skeletons in the closet, at least with respect to his mother's addiction and some of his actions in his youth.

This gets blown out of proportion too. He was only a press officer.

He could kill a reporter with piano wire from 20 paces.

I wasn't aware of that. The film does refer to him having done a tour of Iraq, but I suppose he wouldn't have seen any action if he was a press officer.

Yup, his job title was media relations officer. He did several tours of Iraq but he wasn't running about with guns.

I'm sure he's been to dangerous places in that line of work but so has Kate Adie and nobody is confusing her with a Commando.

Liz Truss killed off the Queen.

Starmer has given covid to Biden.

If you are an elderly head of state, please stay away from British prime ministers.

Trump made fun of John McCain's war record several times, a guy entitled to a chestful of medals including a Purple Heart, a Silver Star, a Legion of Merit and a Distinguished Flying Cross, a guy who crashed in Vietnam in his 23rd mission, nearly died, was beaten and interrogated (when asked for names of his colleagues he listed the Green Bay Packers' offensive line), who was kept in solitary confinement for two years during which he was constantly tortured and spent another two-and-a-half years as a POW in brutal conditions. Trump said he liked people who didn't get captured.

And yet this walking neck-beard, this incel-made-good, gets paraded as a big, tough Marine for carrying a Blackberry and a laptop in Iraq.

Anyone who knows these things about Trump and still likes him is automatically an arsehole.
