Worst goal music in football.

Did they not used to have Chelsea Dagger, as well?

It’s statistically likely that you could point to any club in world football and they’d have used Chelsea dagger as their goal music at some point in the mid-late 2000’s

Bayern subcontracting their sign writing to the green brigade?

Did Charlie Nicholas write that?

Anyway, having just watched the Sociedad highlights (they were excellent and Sommer is a fantastic keeper) it will never fail to astound me that Robbie Savage, a man who never finished higher than 8th in the EPL (but was mostly to be found fighting relegation) is invited to give his "wisdom" on Champions' League football. Baffling.

Ex-professional footballers do not possess wisdom of any sort on any topic. We don't ask journalists to take part in penalty shootouts so why do broadcasters insist on having illiterate ex-footballers do journalists' jobs ?

16 results in the Champions League this week. Big 5 League teams won all of their five matches against non-Big Five League teams, by a total margin of 14 goals. Two, or at the very most three, of the groups look to have any doubt about who will go through. All of the teams from diddy countries will be out by the last 8, most by the last 16.

The Champions League is like Coldplay. Loads of folk seem to like it, but it's unclear why.

The CL is a good competition for the knockouts; you've constructed a straw man by thinking that anyone has been frothing about Real Madrid v BATE Borisov etc. over the past 15 years of group stage action.

The 'Swiss model' replacing the group sounds completely risible but the play-offs (and incentive to avoid them) may reduce the amount of meaningless or effectively meaningless games at this stage. We'll see how it works out in practice.

Big Hojlund was utter dung last night btw, even factoring in his "goal".

Calling it now that he's going to be another flop.

He looks very lively around the box, even against Brighton his movement was very good

Similar to Haaland in that I don't expect him to do much except out the ball in the back of the net, think he'll do OK in terms of numbers

Still only 20
