Johnstone Burgh statement

Knew we hadn't played the Burgh for a while, didn't think it was as long as 21 years though.

A 2-2 draw in April 2002 with Zander Ryan levelling in stoppage time. Willie Collum was the ref.

Wee Zander Ryan was a great attacking full back at this level!

Remember Zander’s Burgh debut at home v Camelon in the Scottish.

Burgh won 1-0 in a tight game and we got to the final that year.

Im sure it was Peasie Burgh beat in the Evening Times Cup final in 2002 at Adamslie? 🤔

Peasie are a club the Burgh always struggled against

That particular season 2001-02 we won at Petershill and drew at Keanie Park in the league, but Burgh won the last Central League title while we finished second bottom and ended up in the new super first division.

We also won 4-1 at Keanie Park in the Scottish Junior Cup in December 01.

Certainly wasn't us the Burgh faced in the ET final that year, but we did beat you 3-1 after extra time in the final at Cambuslang in 1992.

I remember both that cup tie and that final at Cambuslang well.

The cup tie was a shocker as we were riding high in the league

As for that cup final, the turning point was the ref’s failure to send off your big centre half, Maher and the normally reliable Eddie McKim missing umpteen sitters!

Couple of that Peasie team went on to play for the Burgh - I’m sure aforementioned Maher was one and Davie Mallarkey the other

The Project is on its arse! We are playing turgid crap negative football. McKim is out of ideas and looks to have lost his way a bit. The cry is he needs more time and we can still turn it around and get promoted no need panic. Truth is we are no better than last season despite £££ spent, third of league played, going nowhere mid table fodder.

I know there's been teething problem but I take it the guys chucking the money about are prepared to do it until there is some sort of success to bask in and then see them hit a plateau that they can't spend their way through. After that is when the interest and money dwindles going by previous iterations of this sort of thing. Folk are predicting the demise of this scheme way too early imo.
