Week 10 update

Two deaths this week. Up first, a Lord - Tommy McAvoy: Ex-Labour MP and Lord Tommy McAvoy dies aged 80 as politicians pay tribute | The Scottish Sun

Quote

Baron McAvoy entered the Commons on June 11 1987 representing his home town of Rutherglen.

He became the MP for Rutherglen and Hamilton West in 2005.

Baron McAvoy served in two government posts when Labour entered Number 10 in 1997.

He was Comptroller (HM Household) and Deputy Chief Whip during Tony Blair's Government from 1997 until 2008.

And he became the Treasurer of HM Household and a Deputy Chief Whip in Gordon Brown's cabinet from 2008 until 2010.

Any other Lords or Barons from Rutherglen? I doubt it. McAvoy died at 80 so he's worth 45 Base Points for @Craig fae the Vale. A Solo Shot takes that to 95 points.

Second death this week is darts man Tony Green: Tony Green: Darts commentator & Bullseye co-host dies aged 85 - BBC Sport

Quote

Former darts commentator Tony Green, also known for his role on television show Bullseye, has died aged 85.

Bullseye creator Andrew Wood announced the news on Monday, saying Green "passed away peacefully today after a long battle with Alzheimer's".

Green was a BBC commentator at the BDO World Championships from 1978 to 2016.

He was also more widely known for being the scorer and announcer on long-running quiz show Bullseye, hosted by Jim Bowen on ITV between 1981 and 1995.

Bullseye was before my time and even with it being on Challenge I don't know if I've ever seen a whole episode. I can still hear IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIN ONE perfectly though. What an impact.

Green died at 85 so he's worth 40 Base Points for @pawpar. A Solo Shot takes that to 90 points.

Indale Winton's points seem to add up to 284 rather than 285.

@Miguel Sanchez

There was another Baron from Rutherglen (Dougie Donnelly hasn't been raised to the Peerage yet which is shameful given some of the chancers in there. I've looking at you, Mone)

John Campbell White, 1st Baron Overtoun, DL, JP (21 November 1843 – 15 February 1908) was a Scottish chemical manufacturer, supporter of religious causes, philanthropist and Liberal politician. He was raised to the peerage by Gladstone in 1893, and in 1905 was granted the Freedom of the City of Rutherglen (where his chemical works was based), following being honoured in the same fashion by Dumbarton two years earlier, in recognition of his philanthropic endeavours.

The old Glencairn pitch for one I believe.

If you're going to get a Baronetcy for poisoning the land with heavy metal it should be Baron Ozzy and Baron Dickinson shirley?
