Injury ridden Pars v Best form in the League Morton

Recommended Posts

Is McPake aware you don't have to play like Pep's Barcelona to score goals? Just trying to do mental things and losing the ball constantly. Defence looks all over the place as well.

Possibly a foul in the build up but can't begrudge Morton the two goal advantage. We've only really had the Edwards run from the counter attack and the wee Moffat run, and that's been it. The rest has been a comfortable stoll for Morton. It very much looks like a decent Championship side against a League One team, which is basically what we are without Benedictus, Ritchie-Hosler and Todd.

Having their best season in a decade and it's still all about the Pars.

Toss-up between Chalmers and the referee as to who is having the biggest stinker out there. Morton boy delays a re-start, pretty much an automatic yellow but doesn't book him and instead gives Hamilton a talking to. Moffat cut down outside the box, play on. Chalmers is just woeful though. I honestly don't see what he offers. Can't pass, no physicality, doesn't score, doesn't track runners, is far too slow and gets caught out far too often.

We currently have 4 (maybe 5?) players out with injuries, mostly not serious - 2 weeks or therabouts. But Imrie's been very clever and circumspect with his signings and additions so we have real depth in our squad. Plus although we haven't brought anyone in during the January window, good business has been done in terms of tying down key players to 18-month contracts. Good management, and we consider ourselves fortunate to have him. He's also recently signed up until 2026.

Really is men against boys.

Morton bully our stupidly young back line. The obsession of having to sign young players is killing us. No leadership, nobody on the park with the nous to calm things down. Udderless garbage.

Fukin embarrassing.

Our pressing must be the best in the league. The team are seriously fit and at times it’s like having 10 Dougie auntie’s outfield with the effort they all apply.

Teams who try and play out have real difficulty against us. McPake clearly hasn’t done his homework.

Dunfermline have been as bad so far as we were in the first two games between these teams. Their dedication to playing themselves into trouble in their own half when they obviously can't cope with our pressing is mad.

They're dribbling into tackles 35 yards from their own goal then being shocked that the ref isn't buying the standard defensive dives that defenders usually get away with if they've got their back to their own goal under pressure, when they've lost possession trying to skin players and having the ball cleanly nicked away. A couple of times they've managed to play through the press and gotten into good positions with it, but especially with the state of this pitch the risk clearly isn't worth the potential rewards.

None of which should downplay how good we've been. Wilson and Crawford in particular have been immense in running the midfield, but everyone is playing well. That defence is terrified of Oakley.

Can't comment on the potential offside for the first from our angle, but it's a very well worked goal from our perspective with once again stems from pressing. The linesman has certainly shat himself since, flagging offside several times when even from this half you can see it's been two yards on. The second comes from a tremendous cross from Strapp, his attacking threat is so much more than the long throw.

We've maybe been a wee bit too casual since going 2-0 up and allowed space too easily so need to keep the intensity up to not let them back into it out of nowhere, but it wouldn't remotely have flattered us to go in further ahead there.

Morton could win this one 6-0 and Dunfermline would still have conceded less goals than you bottle merchants have in the past ten games.

Haha, points equal prizes pal. We’ve 44 in the bank, ram the rest of your stats wherever you please.

Can't belive we have not changed our style of play. Just playing into Morton's hands time and time again.

Fair play Morton though. Absolutely handing our arses to us. Think this could end 4-5 nil
