I’m not sure about that.  The absolute worst thing the Tories can do is to be seen to be influenced by Farage.  Don’t see anyone who wouldn’t vote for Reform this time around doing so next time.

If they don’t try to capture back the ground they lost to the Tory Lite tribute act and/or offer a realistic option to the folk who just stayed at home a few weeks ago then they are totally gubbed.

Reform is not a serious Political party in the conventional sense, the fact it is set up as a business franchise tells you that .I see it more of a Tory / right wing pressure group designed to keep the Tory Party on the hard right and in line with current Middle England zeitgeist. In the end it will finish up the same way as UKIP as it's job is done .

Sounds like there will be six candidates. Kemi Badenoch, Robert Jenrick and Priti Patel from the right wing of the party whilst James Cleverly, Mel Stride and Tom Tughendhat are the one nation candidates.

Cleverly will probably get to the final two by uniting the one nation side of the party. Can’t see him winning though. If Jenrick drops out and endorses either Patel or Badenoch, then whichever one he chooses will win.

If they had sense they’d go for Tugendhat, fortunately they don’t have any sense.

Fucking hilarious that the cartoon character Braverman is not in the running.  She’ll be scribbling madly in her journal about how everybody is against her.

They should make the leadership contest into a Big Brother style reality show.

The twist being, that as they're all Tories, each one is Nasty Nick

You're showing your age.

Surely it's Love Island with them trying to woo Joey Essex.

Braverman surely is odds on to defect to Reform at some point soon.

I know that at a general election you vote for a person and not a party, but if someone was to defect so soon after being elected in a general election, there is surely the argument for voiding the result in that constituency and forcing a by-election.

Jenrick is an absolute weirdo. He was a fairly bog standard one nation Tory for years, but seems to have undergone a transformation in recent years into an ultra right, reform adjacent, Braverman clone.

Definitely nothing to do with his own career ambitions imo…

They are far too left now, out of touch with voters. Look at the state of this country now, it's a disgrace. The left wingers won't stop until we don't recognise this country but there could be a few saviours waiting to save the day.

Jenrick thought the Rwanda policy didn't go far enough. So much so that he resigned over it.

The best outcome for the Tories is that they let the Badenoch experiment run its course so they can figure out that, whilst she might be a darling of the party members, she's utterly awful. She is incredibly thin-skinned and cannot take any sort of disagreement/challenge without getting agitated very quickly. She is a culture warrior and not leadership material, but the party membership don't care about that as long as the red meat is thrown to them.

They will then lose the next election and can try again with a more serious candidate. Reform voters will begrudgingly start moving back to punt Labour from power.

Thatcher was the milk snatcher.  Jenrick was the one who insisted that cartoons for children should be painted over.

If you want to get ahead in the Tory Party then you have to play the pantomime villain.

Kind of linked the point in bold, whenever I’ve see her being interviewed she comes across as if she absolutely detests the journalist interviewing her.

Which isn’t a good trait when you’re a shadow leader trying to get your points across in the media from the background.
