ICTChris
There’s going to be a lot of disappointed people this week and many will make wild excuses for this. Please use this thread to capture the best excuses for defeat or not doing as well as predicted. A few predications If Reform UK don’t do as well as polls suggest someone will suggest that MI6 hired actors to be racist, as many of their supporters are saying now. If the SNP lose significant numbers of seats then at least one senior SNP figure will suggest that the election being held in the Scottish school holidays contributed to the losses. Nadine Dorries will blame everyone who turfed out Boris Johnson. I can see at least one Tory going tonto and accusing the British public of failing to appreciate them or something like that. Note this is only defeated MPs or actual public figures excuses. P&Bers excuses can be covered in the heads gone thread as per process. DeeTillEhDeh
No-one will say it publicly but privately they'll say the electorate are stupid. And to be fair they'd probably be correct. Edited July 2 by DeeTillEhDeh

HibeeJibee
Boundary alterations. ID requirements. Weather. Wimbledon. "Misleading focus on devolved matters". Foreign interference. Calls for increased deposits citing 30% increase in candidates v 2019. 44 minutes ago, ICTChris said: If the SNP lose significant numbers of seats then at least one senior SNP figure will suggest that the election being held in the Scottish school holidays contributed to the losses. Postal voting issues will also be 'blamed' wherever somebody loses 'narrowly' but especially here citing families jetting-off/etc. Edited July 2 by HibeeJibee
JS_FFC
In the early days of the campaign the SNP were claiming that the school holidays thing would help them because voters would be so angry at the UK government showing their disdain for Scottish voters that they’d vote SNP to protest that. Incredible that the result is to be spun the other way.

tamthebam
Russian interference - "the British people aren't really thick racists and there's no way they would vote for Reform otherwise" "We didn't get our message across" is an old favourite "Liz Truss was fundamentally correct, she just wasn't given enough time"

Michael W
I can't believe Channel 4 have managed to get Dorries on. She will be a ball of rage when the exit poll drops, crying as to how it's all Michael Gove's fault for ousting dear Boris.
